Monaco basketball points forward Tuesday

On Tuesday, Monaco basketball kicked off with a preseason press conference for Roca Team at the Club Bouliste du Rocher.
Serge Telle, Minister of State, confirmed the support of the Monaco government, and signed a convention between the government and ASM Basketball to develop a true partnership with the club for the 2016-2017 season.

 TeamRoca jumped from the third French division in 2013-14 to number one of the 2015-16 Pro A regular season standings. Players Amara Sy, Jamal Shuler Yakuba Ouattara and Sergii Gladyr are returning this season while new recruits include Americans Jack Wright and Brandon.

Season tickets, from €100 and starting with the first Pro A Match September 24, can be purchased via the club’s website.
Also on hand Tuesday were Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, Sergei Dyadechko, as well as Club President, Paul Masseron, Vice-President; Willy de Bruyn, Director and coach Zvezdan Mitrovic.
The Director of Education, Youth and Sports, Director of the Stade Louis II, and the President of AS Monaco Omnisports also showed their support.

SMIP to buy Ventimiglia marina

Following the initial agreement signed on May 12 of this year, the SMIP (Société Monégasque Internationale Portuaire) is in the process of purchasing the Cala del Forte marina in Ventimiglia.
Situated just 7.9 nautical miles from the Principality of Monaco, and with fully integrated management with the Ports of Monaco, the new marina will be an ideal facility for superyachts up to 60 metres visiting the Mediterranean hotspot, superyachttimes.com reports.
Though more elaborate details are scarce for now, the company has invited the industry to find out more at the upcoming edition of the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of September, where they will be present at stand QL-11.

More train delays for Monaco

A number of trains on the line serving Monaco Monte-Carlo were cancelled on Monday evening due to a failure of equipment at Nice station. The latest incident underlines the problem of under-investment in rail infrastructure and its maintenance, critics say.
The railway service is the most commonly used means of transport for commuters travelling to and from the Principality, but the regional TER network provides one of the two worst services in France. Earlier on Monday, trains serving Monaco were subject to delays after migrants invaded the tunnels to the east of the Principality.
However, most of the delays and cancellations on the local service are caused by strike action.

Tax bonus for French middleclass

TaxesThe French government is still promising a tax bonus for the middle classes, to be announced later this week, although the state’s generosity appears to have been subject to downward adjustment.
The bonus will take the form of a rebate on taxes for 2016 but will not be paid until next year, according to Les Echos and Europe 1. Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on Tuesday morning that the total amount of the rebate will be €1 billion and a bill to that effect will be submitted to the State Council by next week.
Notwithstanding the approach of presidential elections, the Prime Minister has said he wants “to restore purchasing power to the French” and to ensure that the political left is not “identified with high tax”.
President Hollande has said that the tax cut is possible because of “fiscal space”. Earlier this year the government had forecast that the French economy could grow by 1.7 percent in 2017, but this seems very unlikely to be obtained. Terrorist attacks and Brexit have clouded growth prospects for 2017, apart from other systemic reasons including high unemployment.
