Monaco will premiere the award-winning documentary film, The Last Man on the Moon, in English, at the Grimaldi Forum on Thursday, November 10.
A panel, with some of today’s eminent leaders in air and space travel and technology, will be held at 5:30 pm, before the 7 pm screening, which is free and open to the public.
Held under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, this is an initiative of the Embassy of Monaco in Washington, DC, to show the film based on a story by Eugene Cernan about his two extraordinary missions to the moon and what he loved and lost in the process.
The screening will follow a 30-40 minute discussion on the theme of Pioneers and Innovators of Our Time (also in English) on air and space exploration that has changed and inspired the world, emphasising the importance of clean technology for the future.
“I am truly honoured that The Last Man on the Moon is to be screened in such esteemed company in Monaco. It’s been a long, memorable journey since the dream of making the film first took hold of me after reading Gene Cernan’s book. He was one of the great pioneering space explorers of his time, and I greatly look forward to being part of a panel that includes people who are shaping the course of space travel in the future,” said Mark Craig, the film’s director and co-producer, who also wrote the screenplay.
“Space exploration and the future of renewable energy technologies are both of the utmost importance for our planet and the survival of humankind. Monaco is proud to be at the forefront of these discussions and to bring together such distinguished leaders and pioneers from different parts of the globe to share in these important topics, and the Monaco premiere of The Last Man on the Moon provides us with the perfect launch pad,” said Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle, the Principality’s Ambassador to the US and the event’s convener.
Tickets are free but limited seating is available. Send your request by November 4 to k.casero@monacomediax.com

India welcomes chefs "with their heart"
French businessman Gilles Bragard, the man responsible for bringing the personal chefs of world leaders together in an exclusive club, says “Le Club des Chefs des Chefs” (CCC) members are impressed with their trip to India as people are warm and welcoming. The club is on its first visit to India since its inception in 1977 in Paris.
Touted to be the world’s most exclusive gastronomic society, the club aims to use food as a bridge between cultures and societies. The club visits one member country every year to exchange ideas and explore new cuisines, the Press Trust of India reports.
According to Mr Bragard, Montu Saini, Executive Chef to President Pranab Mukherjee, was very keen to bring the club to India and he is happy that the club is finally in the country.
“Indian people are very open and they like to show the best of their culture and gastronomy. They like to welcome with their heart, there is nothing artificial,” he told PTI in an interview.
Mr Bragard says there is more curiosity about Indian cuisine in the international arena than before and it will only grow in future.
“Gastronomy in India is becoming important. Everybody thinks it is the best time for India.”
The Paris-based club announced a three-month scholarship for the top student of the Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa in New Delhi, to train in the palaces of Europe, including in Monaco, during their first press conference, hosted by The Imperial.
Mr Bragard believes the club, which has grown into a prestigious institution, has been a success because the members are treated equally.
“They are international friends, there is no bitterness as they are on the same level. Monaco is the smallest country but Christian Garcia, who is chef to Prince Albert II of Monaco, is the president of the club. Our club should work as an example to Heads of States.”
Azerbaijan-Monaco forum next week
The Azerbaijan-Monaco business forum will be held in Baku on November 7, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) said.
Monegasque entrepreneurs, working in trade, healthcare, tourism, logistics, transport, education, alternative energy, consulting, watch manufacturing, real estate, food industry, furniture industry, as well as in the banking and insurance sectors, are expected to take part in the event.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Monaco reached $41,970 in January-September 2016, which entirely accounted for the import of goods from Monaco, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
Kazakhstan makes visits easier
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan is working on lessening the administrative burden for foreign citizens in Kazakhstan, Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov told a briefing on October 28.
Citizens of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) and EEU (Eurasian Economic Union) countries, including Monaco, Malaysia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, will enjoy a visa-free regime in Kazakhstan for 30 days from January 1, 2017.
“We are trying to improve the investment climate. Also, we pay special attention to the registration of foreign citizens in Kazakhstan. We have introduced a special regime to facilitate measures so that foreigners feel comfortable in Kazakhstan,” Mr Idrissov said.
The minister added that the Kazakh government pays special attention to creating the most user-friendly, liberal migration regime to attract foreign experts.

Prince Albert: Trump’s climate change denial “is dangerous “
Prince Albert has told the American press that the views of presidential candidate Donald Trump on the topic of climate change are “dangerous.”
The Sovereign reportedly said: “I was pretty shocked when I heard climate change denial. It’s dangerous to have someone like this running for office, someone who can have people believing it’s all a conspiracy.”
As previously reported by Monaco Life, Prince Albert last week met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (pictured above) and presented him in person with the documents ratifying the Paris agreements made at last year’s COP21.
There were also discussions about the upcoming COP22, which will be held November 7-18 in Marrakesh, where the Foundation Prince Albert II of Monaco is reportedly hosting a “select dinner”.
In addition to his visit to the UN, Prince Albert attended the annual Princess Grace Foundation (US) dinner and awards, together with Princess Charlene. He also made a quick visit to the childhood home of his mother, Princess Grace, in Philadelphia’s East Falls district. The Princely family has recently acquired the building.
