On November 9 and 10, the International University of Monaco hosted International Business Days 2016, which included workshops specifically designed to support the internship-job search efforts of students and alumni. The topic was “Shaping your international career path”.
One of the main sessions during the event was “Discovering Monaco opportunities”, which focused on helping students and alumni understand the Monaco economy and its very specific job market. Main topics included how to set up a business in the Principality, acquiring a Visa and work permit, and the expanding shipping industry.
The two-day event gathered around 60 companies, including UBS, Piaget, Nielsen, Frost & Sullivan, BDDO, CONNECT DG, Banque Edmond de Rothschild, PUMA, SEVENDOTS, and 300 students and alumni on the Monaco campus. “Speed biz dating” sessions were also organised.

Preparations underway for 41st edition of circus festival
No Christmas and New Year season is complete in Monaco without the circus.
This year, the competition will be back for the 41st Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, after the unforgettable “best of” of the 40th edition, a unique event that is often referred to as the “ultimate circus show”. The Organising Committee, which had invited the award-winning artists from the previous festivals, even came up with some new combined acts, some of which have made circus history. Having won individual awards and in partnership with others, they remain extraordinary and never to be repeated.
As the competition returns for this 41st edition, there is an international jury, under the presidency of HSH Princess Stephanie: their mission is to award the famous Gold, Silver and Bronze Clowns, often compared to the Oscars of the film world. The Gold Clown is the festival’s trademark, conceived when the festival was created by its founder Prince Rainier III of Monaco.
From January 19, over 100 artists from 16 countries will perform in the famous Fontvieille ring. This year humour will feature strongly with Tom and Pepe, a long-established American-Portuguese clown duo; Otto Wessely, a comic and eccentric magician; and from the Czech Republic, the Wolf Duo, come with an acrobatic comedy act around a table.
Order your tickets before they sell out on the Monte-Carlo Festival website.

Reflecting the Future in Astana
The Monaco Inter Expo team visited Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, from October 25 to November 4 as part of Monaco’s forthcoming participation in the 2017 Astana International Exposition.
The trip made it possible to see the progress of work on the site of the exhibition and to visit the lot that will host the Pavilion of Monaco. The visit also provided an opportunity to initiate a number of legal and logistical matters in preparation for the Exhibition in Kazakhstan.
The theme of the Pavillon de Monaco: “Reflecting the Future”, has also been filed with the organiser.
Mr Julien Cellario, Commissioner General of the Monaco Pavilion, met with members of the organisation, including Mr Alisher Pirmetov, Vice-President of the Council for Finance and Budget Planning and Mr Akhmetzhan Yessimov, President of the Council Astana EXPO-2017. He stressed Monaco’s determination to present to the visitors an Innovative Pavilion.
To date, Monaco is one of the first countries to have finalised its participation in Expo 2017.
