The Franco-Monegasque Joint Commission on Social Security was held recently at the Ministry of State, at which a number of important issues were discussed.

The themes on the agenda concerned both health and social security issues. In particular among the topics debated were the shift to activity pricing (T2A), health professional cards and the implementation of teleworking.

Much of the discussion centred on how workers paying health contributions in France can benefit from treatment in Monaco, and how the Monaco institutions, such as the Princess Grace Hospital, will be reimbursed by France.

The Monaco delegation, led by Mr Stephane Valeri, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, argued at length for Monaco healthcare professionals to be issued with French credentials in order to facilitate treatment.

The subject of the practical implementation of the new teleworking law was also talked about and parties agreed to address the issue annually.

Talks were very constructive on all these points, in a climate conducive to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, Monaco’s Government said.

For 10 years, Les Anges Gardiens de Monaco have been supporting the most disadvantaged living rough in Nice: every Monday, warm meals and warmth are distributed to hundreds of people.

On Monday this week Bruna Maule Cassio and her team of volunteers brought a special visitor to their friends living on the streets.

“Between a gala evening in Monaco in the presence of Princess Charlene and the filming of a TV show in Milan, Victoria Silvstedt, model, actress, and TV presenter, gave her time and her wonderful smile to Monaco’s Guardian Angels, bringing help to men, women, entire families, babies, the elderly, the disabled, all those who can not afford lodging or food,“ Bruna said.

“What has touched my heart,” said Victoria, is that it is not just about providing emergency assistance but also helping people reintegrate. Les Anges Gardiens de Monaco also pay rents for several needy families.

Hannibal Renberg, whose works are on display at ArchiChic, 5 rue Martin Seytour in Nice, from December 2 to 23 (with a vernissage December 9) captured a few magical moments with Victoria Silvstedt and the Les Anges Gardiens de Monaco.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the association, singer Umberto Tozzi will offer a concert during a charity gala on Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Salle Empire of the Hotel de Paris in Monaco.

Monaco has taken part in the 85th general assembly of Interpol, which took place over four days in Bali.

Apart from mainly administrative matters, the 830 police chiefs and other top law enforcement officials present discussed the reinforcement of police capabilities and resources in the face of international terror, cyber-criminality and organised crime.

Applications for Interpol membership from Kosovo, Palestine and the Solomon Islands were put on hold, pending a report to be made to the next general assembly, due to be held next year in Beijing.

Richard Marangoni, Director of Public Safety, and Christophe Haget, Head of Criminal Investigation Division, will meet top French security officials in Paris early in the new year.

Monaco received plaudits for developing an interface between its own checks of traveller and visitor documents and the Interpol database, a scheme known as “I-Checkit.” This has worked well in swiftly identifying false documentation.

Flavio Briatore, the flamboyant entrepreneur who runs Cipriani and Twiga in Monaco, is adding a new venture, Cova, a Milanese-inspired top-end café in collaboration with luxury goods group LVMH, described as a café where “everything happens” … working men stand at the front bar sinking espressos . Fur-clad gran dame demolish midday cocktails in the main salon.”

The new Cova cafe will open at 19 boulevard des Moulins and will be the first in Europe outside Italy. Paula Faccioli, CEO of COVA, said that the company expects COVA in Monte-Carlo to be an example and a symbol of excellence in the world.

Briatore added: “Monegasques as well as the international communities that are drawn to the Principality are accustomed to high standards in terms of quality and service.”

Monaco Life reached out to COVA, who currently has cafes in several Asian cities, including Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai, for comment.
