On March 28 the Permanent Mission of Monaco to the United Nations in New York celebrated, in collaboration with Peace and Sport, the Fourth International Sports Day for Development and Peace. Several Olympic tennis and Taekwondo champions demonstrated a number of sports at the United Nations Headquarters. Among them: the gold medalist at the Olympic Games (London 2012 and Rio 2016) and Vice-World Champion, Jade Jones of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Talh Lebovitz, Paralympic Table Tennis Champion, and Maria ToorpakaI, Pakistan Squash Champion in 2012 and Peace and Sport Peace Champion, and Skylar Park, Junior World Champion of Canada.

Fun workshops were held with children from New York clubs. The Permanent Mission of Monaco offered a luncheon with representatives from Slovenia, Canada, Tunisia, Morocco, the United States, Russia, China, France and representatives of various sports federations.

This event provided an opportunity to raise awareness of sport in the diplomatic world and the UN, which has a positive impact on people from different backgrounds and cultures. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of appropriate strategies for people living In post-conflict and developing countries.

This day ended with a photo of all the participants holding the #WhiteCard #IDSDP2017.

The first evening of events held in Paris by the Rencontres Philosophiques of Monaco on March 28 was at the Maison des Océans. At the invitation of Charlotte Casiraghi and the founding members of the club, the philosophers Frédéric Gros and Marc Crépon and the sociologist Gisèle Sapiro, spoke on the theme: “Philosopher now, crisis and new challenges”.

In her address, Charlotte Casiraghi particularly welcomed the partnership with the Monaco Government and the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports, which enables philosophy to be brought into the classrooms at a younger age.

Founded in 2015 by Charlotte Casiraghi, Joseph Cohen, Robert Maggiori and Raphael Zagury-Orly, the Philosophical Encounters of Monaco aims to open up philosophy to the greatest number by proposing series of thematic conferences. After love and the body, the theme of conferences in the 2017-2018 season in Monaco will be violence.

This first Parisian event, marked by the eclecticism of art, dance, culinary originality and a concert by Mathieu Chedid and Yaron Herman, was the occasion to announce the colloquium that will take place on June 7 and 8 in Monaco and which will cover: “The time of the conversation”.
