A ceremony has been held to honour two victims of the German occupying forces in the Second World War, René Borghini and Esther Poggio, who were executed on the same day that Allied forces landed in Provence.
The unveiling of a memorial plaque on the facade of the National Council building was conducted in the presence of HSH the Sovereign Prince, Serge Telle, Minister of State, Christophe Steiner, President of the National Council, Marine de Carne-Trécesson, Ambassador of France, and the High Authorities of the Principality.
The two resistance fighters were arrested in Monaco on July 3 and 7, 1944, and shot at the notorious Ariane execution grounds on August 15.
HSH the Sovereign Prince recalled the commitment and sacrifice of the two martyrs as he unveiled the plaque. René Borghini was a former Secretary of the Presidency of the National Council and member of an intelligence network, while Esther Poggio was his liaison officer.
A minute of silence closed the ceremony, which was attended by the Federation of Monaco French Associations, and a number of associations that commemorate the resistance against the Occupation.

From 3 to 7 pm at the South Darse on the harbour, a team of enthusiasts made up of national-level pole vaulters selected from the clubs of the region will enchant onlookers with a demonstration of jumps.
At 17:00 spectators will be able to witness an hour of high-level pole vaulting, with the bar set at five metres. The Hercules EBS event will be held on July 21 at 19:00 at Stade Louis.

He regularly visits Monaco where he chairs the scientific committee of IMSEE and the Advisory Board of the International University of Monaco and also sits on the board of directors of Monaco Asset Management. Pierre-André Chiappori is also a board member of major international corporations.
The Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, founded in 1795 and restored in 1832, is one of the five academies to come under the umbrella of the Institut de France. It is also the oldest French institution devoted entirely to law and the human sciences.

Mr. Gilles Tonelli, Government Counselor for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was received on July 6 in Tunis by Mr. Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, for the third session of the Bilateral Commission between the two states.
Tunisia and the Principality maintain long and special relations, formalised in 2008 by the conclusion of a Framework Cooperation Agreement. On that occasion, the two parties welcomed ongoing support and cooperation to contribute to economic and social development in Tunisia through projects in health, the social sector, entrepreneurship and local economic development.
Meeting last week, the two ministers had an exchange of views on the development of the situation at national and regional level, as well as on possible new avenues of partnership, in particular in the social and youth fields.
To this end, the Monegasque side undertook to examine projects submitted by the Tunisians, aimed at encouraging the integration of women in rural areas, protecting children with disabilities and supporting youth and sports.
At the end of the session, the two ministers signed a new Framework Cooperation Agreement in line with the International Agenda 2030 for a sustainable development, as well as a sectoral agreement in care and the integration of vulnerable people.
An Economic Forum, co-organised by the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the Monaco Economic Board was held on Friday, July 7, at the headquarters of UTICA.
Mr. Tonelli also visited flagship projects supported by the Principality in Tunisia.
