The supplier of polo shirts that are now a required item of school uniform at La Condamine School has replied to criticism of the quality of the clothing.
Jean-Pierre Sultan, whose company CMET won the tender to supply the items, said that the 100 percent cotton item preferred by the Government is “a good quality polo,” made by a Spanish supplier. The Spanish company has a good reputation across Europe, Mr Sultan said.
A second type of shirt, a polyester and cotton blend, was rejected during the tendering process to avoid potential allergy problems.
Several parents have complained about the overall quality of the products, their cut and the style. The Government has been introducing compulsory school uniforms on a gradual basis.
