The third Edition of Top Marques Watches & Jewellery showcasing the industry’s most exclusive brands will open later this month at Monaco’s Hôtel Hermitage Monte Carlo.

The Principality’s only exhibition dedicated to Haute Horlogerie and Jewellery under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert will return to the historical Salle Belle Époque, from September 28 to 30.

Organised by the team behind the highly acclaimed Top Marques supercar show, held in Monaco each April, this event follows the same winning formula where all luxury items on display are for sale.

Manoj Bairstow, managing director of Top Marques Monaco, said: “We are really excited about this third edition of our watch and jewellery show, to which we hope many visitors will come to admire the wonderful brands in the beautiful setting of La Salle Belle Epoque.”

Open to the public free of charge, it gives watch connoisseurs, sybarites or simply the inquisitive a rare opportunity to see collections from some of the world’s most exclusive watch and jewellery brands up close.

Highlights this year include watchmaker Geubel Forsey and its highly complicated timepieces with a price tag of more than €1 million and Maison DeWitt, a Swiss watchmaker, who recently made waves at the Hong Kong Watch fair with its diamond-encrusted Academia Collection.

Franck Muller, this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, will also be present at the exhibition as well as Hesjy, one of the newest stars in the world of watch-making, founded earlier this year in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, the world of jewellery will be represented by some of its most creative and elegant contributors such as designers Elena Silvodaeva, Jasre, and HRH Jewels, all from Monaco, and Sandra Biloé Joaillerie Monte-Carlo, a new brand created in 2017 by French/Brazilian contemporary artist Sandra Biloé. The Monegasque jewellers will be joined by VAK Fine Jewels, bespoke designers based in the Indian city of Mumbai.

An invitation-only cocktail party will also be held in the historic venue on the evening of September 28th where guests will get the opportunity to participate in a fund-raising auction for Monaco Disease Power. The Monegasque association under the honorary presidency of Prince Albert supports the families of children with physical disabilities or mental illness. All proceeds of the auction will go towards the creation of a respite house for families in the Alpes de Haute Provence.

“We are hugely grateful to our partners La Societe des Bains de Mer, Monaco’s Direction du Tourisme et des Congres, Monegasque real estate Marzocco and Villa Sandi for their help and support in bringing this fantastic show to the Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo,” Mr Bairstow commented.

As with previous editions of Top Marques Watches & Jewellery, the event will take place during the Monaco Yacht Show, the yachting industry’s most important annual show attracting more than 32,000 visitors each year.

For the duration of the Monaco Yacht Show, from Wednesday, September 27 to Saturday, September 30, access to the port of Condamine will be closed from midnight to 7 am, and limited 7 am to midnight to the holders of a special badge.

The owners of ships with an annual mooring at the port can obtain the badge from the Maritime and Airport Police at 14 Quai Antoine 1er.

Access will always be possible during the show at the port of Fontvieille.

Owners and captains are reminded that due to the Principality’s sustainable development policy, ships moored in the Bay of Monaco not using the waste collection services of the company Eco Tank must imperatively disembark all rubbish at the port of Fontvieille.

singapore, skylineMonaco’s Economic Board (MEB) has received invitations for two events in September, which interested members would be welcome to attend. The first is the Matchmaking Fair Bratislava 2017, organised by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).

This will take place on September 19, 2017, in Bratislava, under the auspices the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.

The Slovak Matchmaking Fair is the largest international B2B event organised by SARIO in Slovakia. Recharge your laptop by pedalling WeBike at the train station

Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, has inaugurated a “WeBike” terminal that travellers can use to recharge mobile devices by pedalling.

Comprising three stations with comfortable seats, the eco-friendly WeBike allows the user to recharge the battery of their mobile phone, computer or tablet with the strength of their calves.

A ring composed of LEDs serves as an interactive display and gives the level corresponding to the power delivered by the user. As soon as this power is sufficient, the LEDs go green and the power supply is then available to recharge the portable device.

From the first pedal, the bike provides electrical power by exploiting kinetic energy through a dynamo, which is roughly equivalent to a mains connection. With regard to mobile phones, the recharging time by pedalling is equivalent to that of a conventional electric charger. On average, pedalling ten minutes at a moderate pace can recharge 10 to 15 percent of the battery.

“This initiative of the Directorate of Environment is part of the Government’s eco-responsible approach and aims to raise public awareness of alternative energies,” said Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, adding “I encourage the Principality’s companies, in other spaces open to the public, to develop similar initiatives.”

Developed by the Belgian company WeWatt, these terminals were tested in 2012 at the Brussels airport and during the Olympic Games in London, and today can be found in an increasing number of sites in Europe and the US.
