EcoHub is back with its first event in 2018 taking place on Sunday, December 14, from 1 pm to 5 pm, at StarDeck.
The free environmental workshop on Stars’n’Bars’ upper floor promises an afternoon of exploring nature, for all ages, with fun and games investigating the world of insects, plant life and animals. Participants will learn how to protect nature by reducing waste and recycling everyday materials – such as wood, plastic, water and fabric – in creative ways.
One in a series of EcoHub Sundays promoting eco-wellbeing, the conference will feature Murielle Mouflard’s Unknown World of Insects, as well as topics like saving whales and dolphins with The Animal Fund and discovering life in nature with Nicolas Volaire.
The association S’PECE (Awareness of Environmental Protection and Species Conservation), which was created to improve environmental knowledge of fauna and flora, mainly in the PACA region, will have a stand identifying animal footprints, with the example of snakes visible in the natural environment. They will additionally present the impact of waste disposal on the planet.
Stars’n’Bars’ eco-animators will also be on hand Sunday to lead an “EcoBrico” activity. No registration necessary.
British Airways has said it is considering stopping its inflight duty-free service on short-haul flights.
“There is limited take-up of duty free shopping on short-haul flights so we are reviewing whether the space needed to store products could be put to better use,” the airline told The Moodie Davitt Report. The inflight service is provided by Tourvest Inflight Retail Services, which won the short haul concession in September 2016.
Tourvest Inflight Retail Services supplies and manages British Airways’ duty-free service worldwide, a contract it has held since January 2012. The concessionaire also gained the airline’s short-haul food and beverage contract in September 2016.
“Given the changing face of customer retail trends, Tourvest Inflight Retail Services constantly reviews its retail strategy and the way we position our inflight duty-free offering,” Michelle Green, Head of Business Development, Strategy & Innovation at Tourvest, told the Report.
“Going forward we see digital engagement and pre-order streams growing and are working with all of our customers on an e-commerce digital strategy for their onboard retail programmes.”
Looking towards the future, the Prince’s Government has entered into a partnership with Matrice, an entrepreneurship program at School 42 in Paris, with the goal of developing a Smart City in Monaco.
During this first season, after a 15-day immersion in the Principality, thirty students from several countries thought about ways to enrich the tourism experience in Monaco through new technologies.
The same group met up again at 42 for a hackathon, to generate ideas and concepts, which were then presented yesterday to a multidisciplinary jury, chaired by Serge Telle, Minister of State.
The students whose proposals have been selected by the jury now have 9 months to refine their projects, then create their own startup to implement them and participate in the construction of a Smart City in Monaco.
Riccardo Giraudi may have just opened Cantinetta Antinori, at 11 avenue Princesse Grace, but the history of the Italian restaurant dates back to 1957, in Florence, with the original establishment in the Palazzo Antinori, one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture of the mid-fifteenth century.
Cantinetta Antinori is a concept by the Florentine family dedicated to wine production for 600 years and over 26 generations. Today, Cantinetta Antinori is a renowned address for Tuscan gastronomy in European cities like Zurich, Vienna and Moscow, where the philosophy of the Antinori family – respect for traditions, territory and the countryside – is translated into quality, simplicity and flavours of pure Tuscan cuisine.

In Monaco, Cantinetta Antinori, open from 7 am to 10:30 pm, will serve breakfast (poached organic eggs with smoked salmon and avocado or a cinnamon muesli burger), lunch – three set menus from €24 to €29, with a glass of Marchesi Antinori wine – and for dinner pappardelle with Tuscan beef stew or beef fillet tagliata and potatoes with rosemary.
While there were many grumbles along the Avenue with the closing of Bouchon, equally a hotspot for gossipers and a notable French bistro, Riccardo Giraudi does not disappoint. His first eatery in Monaco BeefBar – the first restaurant in Europe to import American organic beef – opened in 2005 and then in 2009, he founded Monaco Restaurant Group, which owns almost 10 restaurants in the Principality and many abroad.
