In his first official visit to Colombia, Prince Albert spoke during a high-level Reference User Group meeting at Santa Marta, on Monday, March 19, thanking the Colombian authorities for their work on protecting the oceans.
“Year after year, your work enables us to draw the world’s attention to the very serious phenomenon of ocean acidification,” the Prince said. “I should also like to underline the opportunity presented in 2018 by International Year of the Reef. Because of their vulnerability to acidification, because of their importance in our global ecosystems … corals should today, more than ever, be at the heart of our strategies.”
High profile figures who attended the meeting included Juan Manuel Santos, President of the Republic of Colombia; Luis Gilberto Murillo, Colombian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development and President of INVEMAR; Francisco Arias-Isaza, General Director of INVEMAR; Julia Miranda, Director of National Parks; and Juan Mayr, Colombia’s former Minister of the Environment.
While the last few weeks have been relatively calm for users of the regional rail service, this is about to change after a consortium of rail unions decided to strike on two days each week for three months, starting after Easter.
The industrial action will start on Tuesday, April 3 and last until Thursday, June 28, to protest against the reforms planned by France’s rail operator, SNCF.
Laurent Brun, a leader of the militant CGT union, said that the French government has no desire to negotiate with the unions and should carry the blame for conflict with the unions over a very long period.
A draft law allowing the use of executive orders to reform the rail system was presented last week before the Council of Ministers, meaning that changes, such as a reduction in the workforce, could be implemented without parliamentary discussion.
A three-month series of rail strikes would cause huge disruption to thousands of commuters who rely on the TER service to bring them to work in Monaco each day.
Dynamiq, the official sponsor of the Yacht Club de Monaco Malizia team, led by skipper Pierre Casiraghi, has launched a new model, the 50-metre GTT 165, the latest and largest model in its range of next-generation superyachts.
The company said it is proving again that the days of dull yachts are over. “What makes the GTT 165 unique, is that the first time a superyacht is equipped with two underwater foils: an aft Hull Vane and a forward T-foil developed by Dutch hydrodynamics specialists Van Oossanen in association with US-based Naiad Dynamics, world leaders in motion control systems.

“As the yacht increases its speed, the foils lift the hull up, decreasing drag and increasing speed. As a result only Dynamiq can offer a 50-metre yacht capable of 20 knots that is also capable of crossing the Atlantic at 17 knots, and for those who want even more speed for faster transfers, a GTS version is available powered by more powerful engines that can reach 25 knots.”
Running on “green” electrical power, the yacht can stay at anchor in complete silence overnight with no generators running, or provide a couple of hours of low-speed “breakfast cruising” in zero-emission mode.
“Price and performance are the key factors here,” says Sergei Dobroserdov, founder and CEO of Dynamiq. “The GTT 165 is aimed at today’s active owners who spend most of their time on deck in the open air and want to experience different destinations, or cross the Atlantic quickly and enjoy endless summers in the Med and Caribbean, on a more manageable and economical size of yacht at the very attractive starting price of €24,400,000.”
An appeal court in Caen, Normandy, began hearing the case of former AS Monaco defender Franck Dumas on Monday, March 19.
Now working as the coach for the national side of Equatorial Guinea, he had been sentenced to three years in jail, with 10 months suspended, at an original hearing in January 2016, after being found guilty of hiding €557,496 from the French tax man.
Dumas had incurred the debt while coaching Caen from January 2011 until the end of 2013. He said at the time that an addiction to gambling was to blame for the fact that his tax bills were not paid.
The 50-year-old had played as a defender for AS Monaco from 1992 to 1997, having started as a player at Caen. After his spell in the Principality he played for Newcastle United in 1999 and then returned to France to play for Marseille before going back to Caen. He began his management career in 2004.

The Union Internationale Motonautique, the international governing body of powerboating, honoured the Kuwaiti multi-time world jet ski champion, Yousef Alabdulrazzaq, as the global top winner for 2017 at a ceremony held in Monaco on Saturday, March 17.
Alabdulrazzaq told Kuwait News Agency on Sunday said he was honoured to represent the Kuwaiti Flag at such a high-level international sports event. The Kuwaiti Ambassador to France and Monaco, Sami Suleiman, took part in the ceremony on behalf of Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan. The Kuwaiti Government, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, provides support for Kuwaiti athletes.
Alabdulrazzaq has won the world jet ski championship at least seven times. The ceremony in Monaco brought together sports VIPs and Olympic federations.
Happy Monday to all who enter this style domain. Let me just say … Monaco, you really turned up the FASH-ON this weekend. This was by far my hardest recap to do because there were SO MANY great style moments from the last three days, like OMG thank you everybody for taking my advice (just kidding). No, really even I may have learned a thing or two spying on all the fashionistas out and about, from cold shoulders to Wednesday Addams chic.
@enrica_alessi PEEP PEEP is that spring we hear hatching? No, it must be Glamour Italia writer Enrica Alessi giving a big middle finger to the dullness of winter tones. Tis the season for a corduroy comeback story but this is not your grandfather’s church suit. In pale yellow Enrica brings a burst of sunlight to the streets of Monte Carlo. Cute and casual she ups the fun factor with a pair of … upon closer inspection of her details shot … KIWI earrings with teal tassels. Yes FASHION is FUN. Of course this wouldn’t be a complete look without a designer bag, of course (this is Monaco I do remind you dears, mind the gap). Enrica goes bold and trendy with an orchid pink Gucci Marmont matelassé. This walking ode to springtime makes her blooming debut on our list. We’ve got our eyes on you.
Antoniya Toneva
@tocestyle I do love a good redemption story. Last time Antoniya made an appearance in this recap maybe we were a little harsh on her Carpisa bag (seriously though, throw it in the ocean like Rose did her diamond in Titanic). Listen to me when I tell you she has flipped the script! I’m gleefully confused at the style transformation she has made over the winter … also her Instagram feed? Hello NEXT LEVEL FIERCE (I stole that from Tyra Banks). I kind of can’t deal with this look because it makes me so happy. That Moschino scarf in her hair, the modern cat-eye sunglasses, that Carrie Bradshaw moment of having a necklace with her moniker on it from Soufeel jewelry.
But lets talk about this clothes situation. I’m always here for an off-the-shoulder look. This retro striped shirt under a LEATHER!? spaghetti-strap dress is so super 90s in a elevated Mickey Mouse Club sort of way. Accessorised with a black leather bum bag (in case you don’t follow fashion, fanny packs are all the rage). Seriously though I’m genuinely impressed with this total look and definitely will be putting Antoniya on post notifications.
Achille Idol
@achilleidol If I could fill this entire section with heart-eye emojis I would. I think by now you guys know I have an unhealthy obsession with Gucci. So Roman rapper Achille Idol decided to casually slay my life in this look. Lets break it down, this Balenciaga Le Bombardier jacket in lambskin and shearling is one of the most coveted pieces of outerwear at the moment so he’s already ahead of the game just by that. THE Gucci Marmont belt that had all of Instagram scrambling to the store, red plaid pants that give this look a luxe punk vibe and Gucci Donnie Bit Loafers accessorised by a black Fendi portfolio. I mean it really is that simple to dress amazing … if you’ve got rap career money. Although guys, if you’re going to attempt this look I might strongly suggest not getting face tattoos to complete it.
Maja Roszkowska
@maja_izabela_roszkowska Fashion blogger Maja shows us a bit of advanced layering prowess with her weekend look. So try and follow along. A blue and white striped Oxford half tucked into a black high-waisted skirt under a half-cuffed denim jacket with the Oxford collar half-peeking out tied up with a scarf. I do love a good “I spent an hour trying to look like I just threw on clothes” nonchalance. Really love the accessories. The Le Specs cat-eye sunglasses are what every good fashion girl in Paris is wearing (really, it was a joke last season because everybody had the same Le Specs). A red Chanel mini bag and very 80s black and white pumps complete the look. While there is a lot going on here in this outfit, Maja pulls it off with her confidence to mix things up. If this was a cake, I would put it back in the oven to finish cooking but I sort of dig this half-done look.
Reina Khoury
@syncandsmile Get you a girl that can do both, they say … or several things. Biomedical Scientist/ singer/stylish person in general, Reina conjured up a French maid or a rendition of Wednesday Addams in this super-cute Sandro outfit (though personally I wouldn’t go hiking in this look, but to each their own). You never know when you’ll find a perfect vista for a good Instagram shot. Little House on the Prairie gothic edition broke the chic severity of her look with a gorgeous blue Bottega Veneta bag (nice to see a change of from the usual Chanels and Hermès everybody lugs around). For once in my life I’m happy to see a pair of sneakers with a look like this, honey the shot is not worth falling down the stairs in heels for (I’ve seen it happen, #MonacoProblems). I love how to balance out the casualness of the sneakers Reina added a pair of pearl embellished Calzedonia socks. Actually I’ve changed my mind Reina, I would go hiking in this look, this is Monaco. Show out or show yourself out.
