Happy Monday my wonderful Premium subscribers and fashion mavens. While no doubt the most fashionable place to be at the moment is Cannes, there’s still plenty of not to be missed fashion moments happening in the Principality. So join me as we drool over these latest looks straight from the mean streets of Monte Carlo.

Giulia Cocola

Giulia Cocola

@imgiuliacocola Freelance model Giulia is giving us a lesson in how to utilise key luxury basics and look like a bad-ass. Is there anything more rock’n’roll than a pair of skin tight leather pants? Pair them with Givenchy’s iconic shark tooth lock boots in black leather to give the illusion of elongation of the legs so you too can look like a free lance model. A simple white t-shirt will give you that off duty model vibe with a denim jacket just so casually draped over the shoulders (fashion people don’t actually put their arms through).

This brunette beauty is red hot with her Valentino rock-stud spike chain bag. No time for haters though, she can’t even see them from behind a pair of Dior Dio(r)Evolution sunglasses. Giulia, I’ve never said this before but you have elevated being basic to an artform … in a good way, of course.

Tina Albert

Tina Albert

@tinaalbertofficial Nothing quite says luxury like an all clean white outfit. Blogger Tina Albert soaked up some sun while looking ice cool in a white camouflage Juvia outfit and white jeans. Accessorising with a white New Era baseball cap and white sneakers, Tina was looking fresh and fly. I mean anybody can pull off an all white look but in order to stand out one needs that special touch. Well Tina is slaying my whole life with this current season Chanel Mermaid Blue Spring 2018 Runway Boy Bag. At least the bag is giving us layers and depth even if the outfit isn’t.

Susan Gossage Chardy

Susan Gossage Chardy

@susanchardy Model and Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund UK Ambassador Susan kept it weekend casual in a navy blue and yellow striped track suit from Lacoste. The 2000’s fashion trends are currently in the midst of resurgence, and this tracksuit takes me back to the days of Paris Hilton on The Simple Life, small dogs as accessories and sweatpants as acceptable out of the house gym wear. With matching tennis shoes and gold sunnies, Susan makes this look regal enough for running around Monaco without so much as a side eye.

Weman

Yana Weiman

@yanaweiman Speaking of 2000’s trends, without a doubt the colour of the season is Millennial Pink. Beauty Queen Yana Weiman was living her bubblegum fantasy in a deliciously girly pink poofy Nezha Haute Couture dress. Seriously getting Truely Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang vibes. A contrast to the softness of the dress Yana opted for brown Valentino rock-stud heels that added a tough girl chic to the look. Every rose has its thorns.A Pepto-Bismol pink Louis Vuitton Alma bag completes the look. Some would say it’s overkill but hey if you can’t overdress in Monaco where in the world can you?

Gunner

Ashley Schuberg

@miss_gunner Influencer Ashley Schuberg was living her best life at Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo and with her she brought a plethora of Instagram ready looks to keep tongues wagging and traffic stopped. While all her weekend looks had me shook, my favourite was this particular all black glam goth look. A slinky silk Michael Lo Sordo dress under a Givenchy blazer is a yes in my book. I love me some evening wear in the daylight hours. Thank God she went the edgy route and paired it with spiked Louis Vuitton boots and a black Chanel Horizontal Quilted Boy Bag or it would have been a snooze for me.

Monaco hears about important new EU regulations on personal data

At the initiative of the Prince’s Government, a day of information sharing on new EU regulations on the protection of personal data was held on Monday, May 7.

Meetings were organised for representatives of the main economic players in Monaco’s private sector, and representatives of the public sector, para-public and institutional entities, chaired respectively by Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and by Serge Telle, Minister of State.

Presentations of the General Regulation on Data Protection (RGPD) and its impacts for Monaco were provided by Alain Bensoussan, a lawyer specialising in the law of new technologies.

The RGPD is the new European framework for the processing and circulation of personal data. This text, which will be applicable from May 25, 2018, standardises the laws of EU Member States with regard to personal data. Its aim is to give all EU residents more control over their personal data, to increase the accountability of processors and subcontractors while reducing their prior formalities with regulators and to strengthen the role of regulators and data protection authorities.

Although outside the EU, the Principality is concerned by the provisions of the new European Regulations, since the GDPR is applicable to companies outside the EU that process personal data of natural persons residing in the EU.

Monaco has had data protection rules in its legal system since 1993. Now, in this new context, “the modernisation and adaptation of Monegasque legislation to the new European rules is one of the priorities of the government and work is already being done in this direction,” Minister Tonelli said.

The Minister of State for his part stressed that there is “an opportunity that the Government wishes to seize, through several important projects: the development of the smart city, the strengthening of our digital ecosystem and the implementation of a real strategy on these subjects, including the appointment, a few weeks ago, of an Interministerial Delegate for Digital Transition.”

Monaco Yacht Club to hold Vendée Globe stage

The Monaco Yacht Club, under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert, continues to ramp up its competitive sailing policy with the holding for the first time in its history of an IMOCA stage. This international event is a qualifier for the next Vendée Globe and will take place during the first week of June.

Some 15 teams are set to descend on the Principality for the start of a double-hander offshore race around some of the most emblematic race course marks in the Mediterranean.

After leaving Monaco, the fleet races down Corsica’s west coast before being propelled through the Strait of Bonifacio, towards the Aeolian Islands, where they tack in front of Stromboli and head for Palermo in Sicily. They then set course for the Balearic Islands before returning to Monaco.

The race is a new event in the IMOCA Championship, renamed the Globe Series, that comprises a system of points and coefficients over four years. The goal for sailors is to rack-up as many points as possible to qualify for the biggest offshore race of them all: the Vendée Globe.
