Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate in charge of digital transition in Monaco, said on Friday, June 22, that the strategy for the Principality’s ambitious digital plans must include the provision of better e-services.

Speaking at the Nice-Matin eco-club, in the presence of the Minister of State, Mr Genta said that the digital plan is “a subject that affects everyone today and is at the heart of what Monaco will be like tomorrow.

“Monaco has what it takes to succeed in terms of resources and funding, it is a tool that will further increase the country’s prosperity.”

“The Principality has good infrastructure in general and shows a real willingness to move forward but is lagging behind in solutions and e-services. We will propose a strategy serving users and businesses using the strengths of Monaco that will be further strengthened and developed. Our vision for three years’ time is to have achieved a smart city and a fully connected country,” he said.

The mosquito Aedes albopictus, commonly called the tiger mosquito, arrived in 2004 in Menton and has since colonised the Alpes-Maritimes and the Principality. This mosquito can carry viral diseases such as Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika.

The tiger mosquito measures less than one centimetre and is easily recognisable by its black and white stripes on the body, its legs and its totally black wings. The tiger mosquito is active during the day.

None of the diseases that the insect may carry are transmitted directly from person to person. On the other hand, if the mosquito bites an infected person, it can suck the virus and transmit it to a healthy person with its bite.

Chikungunya or Dengue fever can be suspected in a person with a fever over 38.5 C and the sudden onset of at least one of the following: headache, arthralgia, myalgia, lumbago, or retro-orbital pain.

There is a suspicion of Zika virus disease in cases of a rash, with or without fever, and at least two of the following: conjunctival hyperemia, arthralgia, myalgia. A blood test can confirm the diagnosis.

Residents are advised to reduce the risk by implementing the standard safeguards against mosquitoes. Stagnant water should be removed, even from small pots and vases on balconies. The use of window nets is also advised. Anti-mosquito sprays can also be used.

In case of doubt regarding an infection, a regular doctor or the Emergency Department of the Princess Grace Hospital Centre should be consulted.

The first Meeting of the Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco ended on Saturday evening with a spectacular Sound and Light show dedicated to the Grimaldi dynasty projected on the facade of the Prince’s Palace.

Several highlights marked the first day of this inaugural celebration of the history of the Grimaldi dynasty, including folk dances and cultural performances performed by the invited sites, the fighting of behourd, and also the traditional fire of Saint-Jean which allowed all the invited folk groups to associate themselves with the history of Monaco.

The first meeting also paid tribute to the Marquisate des Baux and the county of Carladès in honour of Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. The City of Menton, which was part of the Principality for five centuries, completed the list of guest sites.

The celebration continued on Sunday, June 24, on the Palace Square.

The Casino de Monte Carlo is the venue for the annual Casino Industry Forum for land-based gaming, from June 28-29, InterGame reports.

Top-level executives from across Europe’s industry will gather for the event, held by the European Casino Association and Monte Carlo Société des Bains de Mer.

Partners of the association representing industry suppliers and some top-level industry experts will also be there for the event, that also includes the association’s general assembly. Key issues for the licensed land-based casino industry will include gender diversity and future trends in anti-money laundering.

Also high on the agenda will be illegal unlicensed gambling, online and offline, according to InterGame.
