The annual summer Monaco Sunday Experience, which offers a complete and varied offer combining shopping, well-being, gastronomy and culture, launches on Sunday, July 8, and lasts until September 9.

Since the labour laws stipulate that Sundays should be considered as days of rest, merchants will need to get special permission to open.

Merchants that wish to open over the busy summer period need to contact the Labour Inspectorate for authorisation and a special permit. The merchant will have to specify the agreed amount of remuneration for staff.

In order to better promote Monaco Sunday Experience, the Direction of Tourism and Congresses, the Government Communication office and the Welcome Office will be using multi-media communications to highlight the businesses that are taking part.

To appear on this site, merchants concerned must approach the Welcome Office to give details of dates and opening hours.

Gilles Tonelli, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, received four new ambassadors at a luncheon held at the Hermitage Hotel on Wednesday, June 27.

HE Mr Louis Sylvestre Radegonde, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Seychelles ; HE Mr. Favien Enongoue, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Gabonese Republic; HE Mr. Jean Galiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan and HE Dr. Jorge Ryder Torres-Pereira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portugal. Each had presented their formal letters of appointment to HSH the Sovereign Prince during the morning.

After a diplomatic career as High Commissioner of Seychelles in the United Kingdom and Malaysia, Ambassador in Belgium and Goodwill Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), HE Mr. Louis Sylvestre Radegonde joined the office of President and CEO of the Tourist Office in 2005. He became Managing Director of Eden-Island Development, Seychelles. the following year. In 2007, he joined DHL Clinical Trials Logistics where he held various positions before being appointed Project Manager of the company in London.

HE Mr. Favien Enongoue joined the Government of Gabon in 2006 as a chargé de mission to the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic in charge of International Relations. In 2009, he became Presidential Advisor in the Department of Legal Affairs, Administrative Affairs and Relations with Constitutional Institutions. In October 2011, he was promoted Special Advisor, Head of the Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism and Sports.

HE Jean Galiev joined the ministry of foreign affairs (MEA) in 1999 and joined the Kazakh Embassy in France in 2001, where he became Second Secretary. He re-joined the MEA in 2006 as Head of the Western Europe Sector of the Department of Europe and America. He was appointed Minister Counsellor in 2007 at the Embassy in Belgium and then in France where he was promoted to Ambassador in 2017.

Dr Jorge Ryder Torres-Pereira began his diplomatic career in 1987 as Deputy Secretary-General at the MFA. He was seconded to the Portuguese Embassy in London in 1990 and then to Tel Aviv in 1995 as Counsellor. He returned to the MFA in 1997, where he held the position of Director of External Policy and Common Security Services. Ambassador since 2010, he has represented his country in Bangkok, Beijing and Paris.

Following his formal induction on Saturday, June 23, Father Lawrence will be the permanent Chaplain and priest for five years or more at Monaco’s Anglican Church.

Bishop Robert and Archdeacon Meurig were joined in the service by Monaco’s Monseigneur Barsi and Père Keppel.

Anglican priests from Marseille to Menton joined in the ceremony to welcome Monaco’s new priest. A large number of St. Paul’s members swelled the congregation for this special occasion.

A lovely reception was held following the service in the Parish Hall. Prosecco and delicate finger foods were abundant and members of the local Anglican community greatly enjoyed a festive buffet.

The Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations in New York held the “World Cup of Sustainable Development Goals for Young People” from June 22 to 24 to promote the SDGs through sport.

Eight out-of-school programmes supported by NGOs were selected by New York City Hall, representatives from the SDG Fund, UNICEF and UN Women to raise awareness of the UN’s work for sustainable development.

Each of the eight teams was awarded official jerseys donated by the partner delegations -Germany, Belgium, France, Morocco, Republic of Korea, Senegal and the Russian Federation.

The Head of Cabinet of the President of the General Assembly kicked off the tournament in which 80 girls and boys aged 10 to 15 took part. The finalist teams were awarded by the Permanent Representative of Monaco and the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation.

All children, coaches and chaperones were also invited by the New York City Football Club to a match between the club and the Toronto team for the championship at Yankee Stadium.

Building on this experience, the SDG Fund will present, as part of the next High Level Policy Forum on Sustainable Development, a guide on the use of sport for the promotion and implementation of SDGs.
