Accompanied by the Regional Committee of Tourism Côte d’Azur, the Tourism and Congresses Department (DTC) recently launched the 2019 version of its digital campaign, “Green is the new Glam”.
A digital afterwork evening, organised on the Rainier III dyke, allowed more than 1,000 shares of #mcgreenglam in just a few hours to reach a targeted audience of 3.29 million people internationally.

After a first campaign focused on the family, the DTC this time gave a new direction by emphasising the international character of the Principality.
Showing that sustainable development is glamorous via social networks is a strategy that can not be ignored when we know that today the “instragrammability” of the destination is the criterion of choice for 40% of millennials.
A Picina Bibliuteca: a self-service participatory library
A participatory library, a project led by the Urban Planning Department (DAU), has recently been installed in the Jardin de l’Âne, near the Ecole de Fontvieille.
The goal of A Picina Bibliuteca: provide 2nd life to the works (or DVD) by depositing and borrowing some others. Its content is thus continually renewed.
The design of the structure was designed by the Venezuelan architects of Stereotank, based in New York, whose plans are open-source. The concept was, with their agreement, taken over and transformed by the DAU. The deposited structures are also protected from bad weather: the inner wall has in fact been made of Plexiglas.
It’s been almost two years since super-stylist Rossano Ferretti brought his famous hairspa concept to the Hotel de Paris Monte Carlo. Ahead of the hotel’s grand debut in March, Monaco Life caught up with the people behind the world-renowned salon, which offers an exclusive hair cutting technique known as ‘The Method’.

The Rossano Ferretti salon was inaugurated in September 2017 by Kory Tarpenning and Jean-Francois Calmes, the same pair who brought the Nike and Starbucks brands to Monaco. It was a bold move considering the hotel was in the middle of a four-year, 250€ million renovation. “We are very happy with our relationship with SBM,” Kory Tarpenning told Monaco Life, “and we are very excited to be part of the success that the Hôtel de Paris Monte Carlo will certainly have.”
Monaco is one of 20 hairspas located in some of the world’s most exclusive locations, from New York to Milan, Barcelona to Abu Dhabi, and via Rossano’s birthplace and flagship salon of Parma in northern Italy. His salons are designed by art directors who study the culture of each location’s customers, so the Monte Carlo salon includes a VIP room for relaxation and privacy.
“We are an open space, but we also very private,” says Rossano.
It may come as no surprise that this Italian entrepreneur has hair styling running through his veins. Rossano’s grandfather started cutting hair in the streets of Italy following World War II, while his mother opened her two-chair salon in Campegine in 1962. It was only natural that, at age 14, Rossano’s family encouraged him to pursue a career in hair.
Now he is famous for ‘The Method’, an original hair cutting philosophy which focusses on the natural fall of hair. According to Rossano, his technique strips beauty and hairdressing to its natural elements, a concept which is quite unique in an era saturated by new trends and complex beauty techniques. “I invented a new way of cutting hair,” says the celebrity stylist. “The haircut became a statement of freedom and personal beauty.”
In addition to providing the ‘perfect cut’, Rossano created a personal hair care line targeting an emerging trend known as the ‘skinification of hair’. In this global age of wellness, hair is now being given the same care and attention as skin, and the Rossano Ferretti range of products are aimed at satisfying those consumers who are seeking ‘healthy hair’.
Rossano has a product line that includes things like the Vita Rejuvenating Hair Mask, an anti-aging, nourishing treatment. His practices are also environmentally conscious.
“As I am particular about the ingredients of the food I eat, I am also particular about the ingredients in our beauty care products,” says Rossano. “Our products are biodegradable with a particular focus on reducing the water pollution caused by manufacturing. We use 78% less water than other producers. And we never test on animals. We practice great technology with a green heart.”
So what is the one product that Rossano simply can’t live without? “Our own Vivace hair and body shampoo,” he reveals. “It is as if you are kissing yourself.”
Prince’s Govt and Sciences Po sensitise students to vulnerable children
From 21 to 25 January, for the fifth consecutive year, the Directorate of International Cooperation (DCI) organised, on the Middle East-Mediterranean Campus of Sciences Po Paris in Menton, the “Winter School”, a week of thematic lessons aimed at sensitising first-year students and creating vocations.
A privileged opportunity to promote Monaco’s international image, this year’s Winter School had the theme “Vulnerable Children in Africa and in the North Africa and Middle East Zone”.
The speakers, all specialists in the world of cooperation and development, came from both local NGOs, such as Tahaddi in Lebanon, Bayti in Morocco or SamuSocial Malian, and international organisations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the World Food Program (WFP), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
During five days of roundtables, conferences and thematic workshops, the 130 or so students from over 40 nationalities of the Sciences Po campus in Menton were able to learn about the fundamentals of development aid and the specific challenges of theme vulnerable childhood.
The Monegasque Cooperation intends to transfer knowledge and create vocations for these future leaders to serve vulnerable populations in developing countries.
To close the fifth Winter School in the presence of Mr. Gilles Tonelli, Government Counselor-Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, Dr. Xavier Emmanuelli, founder of Paris Samusocial and Samusocial International, former Secretary of French State in charge of the Emergency Humanitarian Action, exposed the condition of children in exile.
Jean-Luc Biamonti, President Delegate of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), signed, this Friday, January 25, the charter of commitment of the National Pact for the Energy Transition.
SBM, which also also signed its third charter on sustainable development, is committed to a decarbonised Monaco.
The ceremony was attended by HE Mr. Serge Telle, Minister of State, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Government Counselor-Minister of Equipment, Environment and Urbanism, Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, Director of the Mission for the Energy Transition.
“Actively engaged for 10 years in the service of a more sustainable and responsible luxury, Monte-Carlo SBM is now committed formally. This signature is fully in line with the Group’s global strategy, which launches in 2019 ‘Go Sustainable’, its third sustainable development charter, which includes 30 concrete commitments by 2021,” said Jean-Luc Biamonti.
Marie-Pierre Gramaglia added: “The launch of this third charter and the adhesion, the same day, to the National Pact, are strong markers of this commitment of the managers and the teams of SBM.”
The National Pact, implemented in January 2018, aims at the commitment of the Monegasque community to achieve the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, set at -50% in 2030 compared to 1990 and carbon neutrality in 2050.
HSH the Sovereign Prince, followed by his Government, were the first signatories of the National Pact, which now has nearly 600 members.

After winning a Portuguese Supercup (2015) and a League Cup (2018), he has played at Atlético Madrid since the beginning of the season.
