MAC summer party 2019

The Monaco Ambassadors Club has celebrated its annual summer party at a lavish event in the Jardins Mediterranean at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel.

Organised in association with Shibuya Productions, the party welcomed more than 230 guests including Gareth Wittstock, Princess Charlene’s brother, and Louis Ducruet, Princess Stéphanie’s son.

“The past five years with Shibuya as main sponsor have been quite amazing as we watch this club grow and double in size,” said Christian Moore, MAC president. “In the past year alone we have managed to achieve quite a lot in securing a future for our club and more importantly the message that our mandate dictates for us to put out there to the world.”

The Monaco Ambassadors Club provides members with information, experiences and opportunities to deepen their knowledge and experiences with Monaco.

It also furthers Monaco’s visibility throughout the world by sharing activities related to health, sports, culture, environment, new technologies, business services, communications, global trade, commodities and finished goods.

“The future for MAC looks very fruitful as we intend to grow our club outside of the boundaries of the Principality and take the Monaco Ambassadors Club to new heights,” added Mr. Moore.

Christian Moore used the opportunity to announce that Monaco Life is the new official media partner of the club.

Tielemans, 22, scored three goals and provided four assists in 13 Premier League appearances on loan at the Foxes last season.

He is Leicester’s third summer signing after Ayoze Perez from Newcastleand James Justin from Luton.

“I really can’t wait to get started again with this club,” said Tielemans.

“I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of.”

Tielemans became Claude Puel’s final signing as Leicester boss when he joined on loan in January.

Puel was sacked the following month and replaced by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

“I’m delighted that Youri has chosen to be part of Leicester City’s journey,” said Rodgers. “It’s an incredibly exciting time for this football club and to be able to bring players of Youri’s quality here is an indication of the hunger for success we have.

“He’s already shown he’s capable of making an impact in the Premier League and he adds another option to an incredibly talented group of players here.”

Tielemans began his career at Anderlecht where he became the youngest Belgian to play in the Champions League, aged 16 years and 148 days, when he featured against Olympiakos in October 2013.

After winning two Belgian league titles in four seasons, Tielemans left Anderlecht to join Monaco for about €27m in 2017, scoring six goals in 65 games for the Ligue 1 side.

The midfielder also has 23 caps for Belgium and played at the 2018 World Cup.

Fully 5G connected

The Principality of Monaco is now completely connected to 5G, making it the first in the world to achieve total coverage with the high speed technology.

Deployed by Monaco Telecom, 5G is the first pillar of the ‘Extended Monaco’ program run by the Prince’s Government and aimed at bringing Monaco into the digital age.

Private and business customers are now able to access the new technology on compatible smartphones. But 5G will also be used across the board to improve the quality of life and services for those living in or visiting the Principality. For example, it will allow for selected connected bus shelters to offer free public WiFi, and eventually the installation of environmental sensors to monitor air quality.

Monaco Firefighters will be able to use 5G to operate surveillance drones equipped with high-definition cameras, as well as a pre-diagnosis application at the site of an incident, connected to the hospital to save time and improve the victims’ chances of survival.

And the self-driving eco-bus which is currently in service in the Rock will soon integrate the 5G technology.

Meanwhile, for companies based in Monaco, the deployment of 5G opens the door for possible new markets. For example, Teale, a start-up from MonacoTech, has shown that 5G in remote control installations can be used for better energy efficiency. Originally from Singapore, this start-up has now found the best ecosystem to launch its new solutions in Monaco.

Frédéric Genta announced the full rollout of 5G at a press conference on 9th July

“5G is not a simple improvement of the performance of 4G, it is a paradigm shift,” said Frédéric Genta, Interministerial Delegate in charge of the digital transition. “Where all previous generations focused on telecommunications and private exchanges, 5G is the embodiment of digital integration across all pillars of our society and economy. Energy, health, the media and transport will be transformed thanks to 5G … This offers the Principality, its inhabitants, its public policies and its economy immense possibilities for the good of all.”

“The future applications of 5G in the daily life of Monegasques are very promising,” added Martin Peronnet, General Manager of Monaco Telecom. “In parallel with the launch of 5G, Monaco Telecom continues to roll out its fiber network to offer a quality of service that is recognised as the best in the world.”

The Studio – an educational workshop at national museum

Students in Monaco will benefit from a new space at the Villa Paloma (NMNM) museum, providing a state of the art area for workshops.

Villa Paloma – The Studio

Called ‘The Studio’, the room was officially presented by its designers Adrien Gadet and Benjamin Lina from Studio Quetzal, in the presence of Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, and Marie-Claude Beaud, Director of the New National Museum of Monaco.

The Studio boasts a range of new technologies including digital screens, video projector, and even a digital drill. It is built of cork and glass, inspired by archaeological sites and in keeping with the purpose of the room as a place for research and experimentation. Students here will be able to perform work within the various NMNM exhibitions.

Uniquely designed wooden tables and chairs are fully modular, allowing for a large number of assembly possibilities, in accordance with the needs of the different workshops.

Winners of the Van Cleef & Arpels Grand Prix at the first edition of the Design Parade in Toulon, Studio Quetzal collaborated with Villa Noailles and the Georges Pompidou Centre in various architectural workshops.

Meanwhile, places are still available for the “Portrait for draft” workshops from July 15 to 19 (7-9 years and 10-12 years) and “Footprints of plants” from July 23 to 26 (10-12 years).

Silversea to open sales for new Galapagos ship

Travellers will soon be able to reserve their suites aboard Silversea’s new ship, Silver Origin, which has been designed entirely with the Galapagos Islands in mind and will be the most elegant ship to ever sail the region when it launches in summer 2020.

The all-suite, 100-guest Silver Origin will embark on her maiden voyage in July 2020, unlocking the authentic beauty of the Galapagos by connecting guests with the destination through immersive experiences.

“Our unique, industry-leading offering in the Galapagos Islands is being enhanced further still for the benefit of our guests,” says Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s President and CEO. “On 16th July, we opened sales for Silver Origin, which will enrich guests’ experiences with an unprecedented level of elegance and comfort. After admiring endemic species in the wild and exploring the beautiful landscapes of the Galapagos – with the guidance of local experts – guests will continue their discovery of this unique destination on board, through regionally inspired cuisine, informative lectures and various other enhancements.”

Silversea‘s new ultra-luxury ship will continue the award-winning legacy of the retiring Silver Galapagos by alternating two seven-night itineraries between Baltra and San Cristobal, unlocking varying experiences for guests.

Silver Origin’s guests will spend their days exploring Darwin’s ‘Living Laboratory of Evolution’, where they might spot giant tortoises, colourful marine iguanas, comical blue-footed boobies, energetic sea lion pups, flightless cormorants, Galapagos hawks and Galapagos penguins. Expert local naturalists will share their knowledge and insights, as they lead complimentary excursions. A fleet of eight Zodiac crafts—the largest in the region on a per-guest basis—and kayaks will enhance the adventure with on-water exploration.

With the environment in mind, Silver Origin will feature a dynamic positioning system, which will be used when the ship is positioned over a delicate seabed ecosystem to prevent the anchor from causing damage.

Silver Origin’s guests will also be gifted a metallic reusable bottle that will leverage in-suite freshwater purifications system that convert seawater into drinking water, drastically reducing the use of plastic on board.

According to Silversea, the ship will meet the highest standards of energy efficiency in the segment.
