Leicester City loan Islam Slimani is proving his worth scoring both goals for Monaco, the first 11 minutes in, the second at the 40 minute mark. Unfortunately his efforts weren’t enough to secure a Monaco win, but the 31-year-old striker is a breath of fresh air for the struggling team.

He becomes the second Red and Whites player to get at least three goals in his first two French top-flight games in over 50 seasons.

In other AS Monaco news, Guillermo Maripan has been signed adding some heavy artillery to the team’s defence. The 25-year-old Chilean International was acquired for €15 million, and there are high hopes he will be a powerhouse addition to the squad.

Charles Leclerc has first F1 triumph

Monaco’s own Charles Leclerc took his first F1 victory this weekend beating out Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc has dreamed of gaining a Formula 1 victory his whole life, and this past Sunday his dream was realised. The 21-year-old beat his Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton by a nose.

The win was bittersweet though, as Leclerc’s long time childhood friend and fellow racer, Anthoine Hubert, tragically died after injuries sustained from an horrific F2 accident on Saturday. Hubert’s car slammed into barriers and then was struck by another car whilst he was traveling at speeds of close to 240km/p.

Leclerc’s abilities were on full display showing a dogged determination, concentration and maturity by racing and winning after such a loss.

Hamilton applauded his teammate on his win and noted what a strong contender he is becoming.
