Monaco hero Leclerc meets with Mayor Marsan

Monegasque Formula One driver Charles Leclerc has been welcomed by Monaco Mayor Georges Marsan at the Town Hall and personally congratulated on a spectacular first season.

The driver for Scuderia Ferrari has just finished the 2019 season of the Formula One World Championship and was officially received at the Town Hall on Tuesday 10th December by the mayor and councillors Camille Svara, Marjorie Crovetto Harroch, Francoise Gamerdinger, Jacques Pastor and Nicolas Croesi.

Charles Leclerc, who was accompanied by his older brother Lorenzo Tolotta Leclerc, was congratulated on his first successful season which included seven pole positions, two victories in Belgium and Italy, and a fourth place in the drivers’ standings, ahead of teammate and quadruple world champion Sebastian Vettel.

The mayor and councillors wished Leclerc all the best for the rest of his career, saying they hoped to see him one day win the Formula 1 World Championship title.

Intimate photos of daily life at the Palace

A new photo book paying tribute to the 126 people who work behind the scenes at the Prince’s Palace and his private home, Roc Agel, has been released alongside a private exhibition of 50 photos on display for the Prince in the State Apartments of the Palace.

Photographers Jean-Charles Vinaj and Olivier Huitel were offered carte blanche over a seven month period to peek into the day-to-day operations of the Palace and Roc Agel. This first-ever intimate look at the people behind the innermost workings of the Palace is a touching tribute to the employees who spend their days in the service of HSH Prince Albert II and his family.

Many of those photographed are not only long-time staffers, but generational ones as well. It shows the dedication of the workers to the Grimaldi’s and how the Grimaldi family reciprocates by being loyal employers.

In all, 21 different trades are represented in the book, and not only the ones expected such as painters, masons and electricians, but also people who work as farm hands, upholsterers, valets or silversmiths.

The 300-page book, with short introductions to each trade written by Marie-Alice Leclercq, contains almost 400 photographs, all black and white, and only 3,000 copies were printed. With 2,700 of them already set aside for the Palace, getting a hold of a copy may be a bit tricky.

Panthera wins ‘Best Financial Service Provider’ award

Monaco-based Panthera Solutions has been named ‘Best Financial Service Provider Europe’, excluding banks, by the international magazine The European in its 2019 awards.

The European magazine, in conjunction with the Thomson Reuters Group, hold the annual European Global Banking & Finance Awards to honour financial institutions in different categories. The European award recognises organisations and individuals that stand out from the crowd and are consequently moving their industries forward. Good governance, capacity to innovate, know-how and quality of service are all major considerations.

“We are proud to be the only second financial institution in the Principality of Monaco that won a category at the European Global Banking & Finance Awards, after the renowned Compagnie Monégasque de Banque (CMB),” said Markus Schuller, Founder and Managing Partner of Panthera Solutions.

All companies are nominated through an online voting system and later assessed by the judging panel, which has extensive experience across a range of sectors and is supported by a research team.

“I am delighted that Panthera has been recognised in this way,” added Biljana Kling, Managing Partner of Panthera Solutions. “We pride ourselves on the concrete contributions we have made to our clients’ activities and to the growth of the applied behavioural finance sector as a whole. I join Mr. Schuller in congratulating the Panthera team and look forward to an exciting future helping our clients become better and more value-creating professional investors.”

Clients of Panthera’s coaching, consulting and behaviour-tech solutions aggregate to more than 100 billion euros in Assets under Consultancy since its inception.

Monegasque children’s charity Les Enfants de Frankie will be hosting its annual Kid’s Nite Charity Gala this Friday at Le Sporting Monte-Carlo’s Salle des Etoile.

The annual event offers games, entertainment and activities such as a dance party, followed by a family Christmas dinner and a show.

After the Kid’s Nite Gala, bigger kids are invited to Jimmy’z for an evening of safe, supervised clubbing starting at 9pm for Teen’s Nite. In addition to dancing to DJs Carmine Sorrentino, Chris Nati and Ollie Deejay, teens will be able to enjoy games, snacks and a show by hip-hop dancers FX Lazer and Pyrotechnic Effects. The fun goes on until the clock strikes midnight.

All proceeds from both events will go to Les Enfants de Frankie.

Visitors can even enjoy delicious treats snuggled up in blankets and pelts in one of the cosy heated areas amongst the fir trees.

There are a host of fun activities on offering, including two-hour workshops on a range of themes such as cooking (preparing sweet and savoury specialities), flower arranging, drawing, perfume, and making Christmas decorations. Guests can take with them with your own handmade creations, produced with the help of skilled artisans.

In the evenings, the central glasshouse transforms into a pop-up restaurant for private dinners, complete with seasonal, creative, and delicious menus: an exclusive, unprecedented experience to enjoy under the stars out in the middle of the Patio.

From 14th December onwards, there will even be performances to set the mood on Saturday evenings. The line-up includes dreamy electro jazz music from Ride the Clouds between 6pm and 9pm, and the Rêverie vertical dance company’s poetic ‘Aile émoi’ show at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.

The Christmas village is open every day until 5th January, from 10am to 7pm.
