Free and online property valuation tool launched in France

Whether buying or selling, knowing the value of a property is valuable information. Now, a free and regularly updated online tool for estimations has been launched in France by the government. Here’s how it works.

The French government recently launched a publicly available and entirely free-to-use tool that allows homeowners and potential buyers to access property value estimations from the past five years. The data used by the tool will be updated twice a year, in April and October, to ensure that it remains current.

To produce a reliable estimation, the tool compiles a range of useful information, from the price and date of sale for any existing house, apartment, or undeveloped land to a full description of the property, including the number of rooms, surface area and type, as well as the median selling price per square metre by city and region.

To simplify the process, there is a search bar to pinpoint a specific address, as well as an interactive map that allows users to zoom in on any given region, town, and finally, cadastral section. Additionally, there is a table with a drop-down menu that lists sales for each department.
