Beausoleil opens ice rink on the Place de la Libération

Those missing the ice rink in Port Hercule will be glad to hear that Beausoleil has opened its very own on the Place de la Libération this Christmas.

Last year in Monaco, officials decided against setting up an ice skating rink at the Stade Nautique Rainier III, blaming rising energy costs, and instead plumped for a roller skating station. This Christmas, the Principality is trying out another alternative: the Sports Village.

But ice skating, an activity synonymous with Christmastime and the holidays, is ever popular with revellers of all ages and the French commune of Beausoleil, which borders Monaco to the north, is picking up where the Principality left off with a rink of its own in the heart of the town.

Opening hours

Prior to the school holidays starting, the rink will be open from 4.30pm to 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the rink will be open from 1.30pm to 8pm.

Once the holidays officially begin, the hours will be extended from 1.30pm to 8pm every day of the week, and until 10pm on each Friday in December. The rink will be closing early at 6.30pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Skating sessions cost €4 for adults living in Beausoleil and €7 for non-resident adults. Discounted tickets for under 16s, pensioners, RSA recipients and the unemployed cost €2.50 for locals and €4 for non-residents.

The rink was inaugurated on Friday 15th December and will remain open until Sunday 7th December.
