Matchroom Boxing and its figurehead, Eddie Hearn, will return to the Principality later this year for another bout of world-class boxing at the Monte-Carlo Showdown. Here are all the details we know about the event so far.
Last November, the Casino de Monte-Carlo hosted an epic night of boxing featuring the likes of: Edward Vasquez, who went toe-to-toe with defending IBF super-featherweight champion Joe Cordina; Adrian Curiel, who took the crown from IBF light-flyweight title holder Sivenathi Nontshinga in a surprising second-round knockout; and Souleymane Cissokho, who defeated rival Isaias Lucero.
The ladies got in on the action as well, with Ramla Ali dominating Julissa Alejandra Guzman in a drama-filled 10-round bout that was clearly payback for an earlier knockout by her opponent.
Now, the first flurry of details regarding the 2024 edition has been revealed, and it sounds as though the event is gearing up to be just as big and exciting as last year.
“I’m excited to announce Matchroom Boxing’s return to Monaco for Monte-Carlo Showdown V on 14th December,” says Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport Chairman. “We return to the magnificent Salle des Étoiles for the first time since 2016. The event has become an important date on the Monaco sports and entertainment calendar, and fighters, media, broadcasters, and fans all love the experience. We will announce the full fight line-up shortly… Fans can expect another unmissable evening of World Championship Boxing.”
Tickets are yet to go on sale, but keen spectators can already sign up for the waiting list. Click here for more information.
