Cyril Blais appointed as Maserati MSG Racing’s new Team Principal ahead of Season 11

Maserati MSG Racing has announced the promotion of Cyril Blais to Team Principal as the Monaco-based outfit prepares for Season 11 of the FIA Formula E World Championship. Having previously served as Deputy Team Principal, Blais will take over the position from José Aznar, who led the team during Season 10.

Having joined Maserati MSG Racing in 2022 as a race engineer, Blais has swiftly climbed the ranks, working with renowned drivers like Lucas di Grassi and Maximillian Günther. “This new role represents the next stage of my career, and I’m grateful for the belief in me that the team stakeholders have shown,” said Blais. “I’m looking forward to focusing more on my leadership skills than pure engineering.” The 42-year-old Frenchman, who was named Formula E’s Engineer of the Year, is seen as the ideal candidate to guide the team towards further success.

As Team Principal, Blais will focus on preparing the team for the upcoming pre-season test in Valencia, scheduled from 4th to 7th November. With a driver lineup featuring former Formula E World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne and rising star Jake Hughes, Blais is optimistic about the future. “Our main priority ahead of Valencia is ensuring that every member of the team has the optimum working environment and resources necessary for them to be able to perform at their best,” he added.

José Aznar, the team’s co-Managing Partner, praised Blais’ promotion, stating, “We are delighted to see Cyril elevated to the role of Team Principal. He truly deserves this, and it’s clear testimony to his hard work and the leadership skills he has demonstrated throughout his time with the team.” Aznar also reflected on his own time as Team Principal in Season 10, expressing gratitude to the entire team for their dedication.
