Three amazing dance shows in one with ‘Back on Track 61’ by Jean-Christophe Maillot, ‘Claude Pascal’ by Jirí Kylián, and ‘Casi Casa’ by Mats Ek, organised by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. This highlight of the summer dance schedule is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s appointment as Choreographer-Director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.      

For classical dance lovers, this remarkable show is a can’t miss event featuring seven world premieres. The production brings together seven world-renowned choreographers, each of whom has turned one of the seven deadly sins into a dance piece for Gauthier Dance. 

Shantala Shivalingappa introduces audiences to exotic Indian dance Kuchipudi, a whole-body experience using gestures, facial expressions, finger positioning and movement. A treat for dance lovers looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.  

Igra echoes Nijinsky's play Games by with several nods to this 1913 play in which young people look for tennis balls in a park at dusk. Visuals play a big role throughout, and the simple subject matter is boosted using stunning scenic choices.  

From the Greek soma for body and from the Latin, sonum for sound, Sonoma is the sound of the falling body, this rage felt by human beings convinced of being alive and awake. Marcos Morau and Compagnie La Veronal return to the Principality with this amazing new show.  

6e Sens Compagnie and Dk-Bel deliver a sensitive reflection on disability. The show invites us to share their fundamental values: the overcoming of prejudices and the relationship with the Other. A moment of emotions rich in lessons. 

Two ballets that celebrate the important moments in life. Noces (2003) evokes marriage, from the emotional explosion of the celebration to that particular moment which characterizes the end of the holidays, the return of order after chaos. As for Opus 40 (2000), this piece without a narrative framework is an ode to youth that invites us to turn back to the imagination of our childhood to rediscover lost sensations, the first emotions of the flesh. 

Jean-Christophe Maillot’s interpretation of Faust is a spectacle to behold, invoking passion and universal emotions. The sacred and cursed relationship that connects Faust, Marguerite and Mephistopheles is beautifully portrayed even as Death curiously watches them with eyes filled with certainty.
