Formula E will run on the full Monaco Grand Prix circuit in the 2018/19 calendar, according to a report by motorsport.com.

The two Formula E races that have so far been held in the Principality have used a much shorter version of the track that turns sharply right at Sainte Devote and runs down to a hairpin where it meets the chicane on the Formula 1 circuit. Many fans have voiced disappointment that the full F1 circuit has not been used.

Champions Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi agree, having told series CEO Alejandro Agag during last year’s Monaco round they felt it was crucial to adopt the F1 layout. FE’s new second-generation car will help transition to the full track for the first time,
motorsport.com says.

FE is still three months away from submitting a calendar to the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council for approval, after opting not to do so for this week’s meeting on Friday.

Monaco’s return to the series has always been expected, swapping each year with the biennial Historic Grand Prix, which takes place this May 11 to 13.
