Ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th November, Monaco’s Women’s Rights Committee has launched an impactful campaign entitled From Shadows to Light that seeks to spotlight often-overlooked forms of abuse while amplifying the voices and presence of professionals in the Principality who are dedicated to supporting victims of all forms of abuse.
The campaign, which is part of the Committee’s broader Chronicles of Invisible Violence programme, highlights the emotional and often very difficult journeys victims undertake when they choose to escape a cycle or pattern of violence. It also focuses on lesser-known forms of abuse, such as economic violence, violence in sports and violence against women with disabilities, emphasising the importance of awareness and action in the face of all forms of abuse.
Central to the initiative is a digital book featuring testimonies from professionals who have assisted and supported victims of violence locally. These personal stories aim to educate the public on recognising and addressing hidden forms of violence while showcasing the essential role of support systems in helping victims regain autonomy and dignity. Their inclusion also reinforces the message that acts of violence can occur in all societies and to people from all walks of life.

Alongside the new campaign, the Women’s Rights Committee has organised a full week of conferences, meetings and workshops on various pertinent topics that are open and free to the public.
