HSH Prince Albert has written to Donald J Trump, President-elect of the United States, congratulating him on last week’s election win.
In a letter dated November 11, Prince Albert expressed his wish that “the warm relationship between our countries will continue to grow and strengthen.”
Prince Albert is half-American by background through his mother, Princess Grace, and  takes a keen interest in international relations.
However, while Prince Albert is the world’s foremost advocate of environmental protection, Mr Trump occupies the other end of the spectrum and has called climate change a “hoax.”
Last month, HSH Prince Albert told the American press that Donald Trump’s views on climate change are “dangerous”. The Sovereign reportedly said: “I was pretty shocked when I heard climate change denial. It’s dangerous to have someone like this running for office, someone who can have people believing it’s all a conspiracy.”
