Both the International School of Monaco and the International School of Nice have earned themselves a coveted spot in the leading rankings of the best private schools in the world, the Carfax Education Schools Index. 

Just 125 schools around the world have made the list, which breaks its entries down into eight key categories, such as Top UK Prep and Seniors Schools or Top 15 Schools in Europe. 

“Now in its fourth year, the Schools Index has rapidly become a valuable resource for parents looking for the very best education for their child, wherever they are in the world – as well as for the private schools sector,” says Fiona McKenzie, Head of Education at Carfax Education. “This year’s guide has been comprehensively curated by international experts, with each school notably recognised for their own individual footprint in education, including academics, facilities, preparation for university entry, unique ethos and how they prepare students for life beyond academia.” 

The International School of Monaco (ISM) caught the attention of the panel for its “learning experience that nurtures both academic prowess and global citizenship”. The Index also complimented ISM, which currently educates students of more than 50 nationalities, as being the “epitome of internationalism”.  

The rankings gave credit to the International School of Nice too for its “cosmopolitan education”, adding that “the focus on contextualizing the curriculum, getting pupils to accept challenges in learning and not be afraid of failing and trying again, has had a positive effect on results, which are well above the global average”.

Two other French fee-paying schools also made it onto the European list: the bilingual Ermitage International School France and the British School of Paris. Over the border, in Northern Italy, the British School of Milan and the ICS Milan International School too ranked among the finest the continent has to offer.  

“Demand for excellent schools remains high and is still fiercely competitive, as parents strive to ensure their child receives the strongest foundations to set them up for a lifetime of success,” concludes McKenzie.
