The Jardin Exotique de Monaco is set to host an evening apéro-concert on Thursday, 20th August at 8pm. Organised by the Mairie de Monaco, the open-access event invites residents and visitors to enjoy live music in a relaxed, social atmosphere against the backdrop of the cliffside botanical collection.
Besides its role as a botanical attraction, the garden has integrated a new social dimension to its programming. The Mairie de Monaco has transformed the space into a venue for community gatherings, ranging from daytime workshops to evening social events.
Reviving Monaco’s historic cliffside garden
The garden, which overlooks the Mediterranean, has undergone significant improvements to its infrastructure, including restored pathways and enhanced visitor amenities. These upgrades were designed to improve accessibility and comfort, allowing visitors to better enjoy the thousands of rare succulent species that have grown on the limestone cliffs since the site’s original opening in 1933.
Watching the fireworks from above the bay
A highlight of this season’s programming is the introduction of evening events that capitalise on the garden’s elevated vantage point. Throughout the summer, the garden has opened its doors for special late-night viewings, providing an alternative to the crowded harbour-side docks during Monaco’s major festivities.
Most notably, the garden has served as a premier location for the annual International Fireworks Festival. By opening its terraces after hours, the site allows attendees to watch the pyrotechnical displays from a quiet, panoramic position more than 100 meters above the sea.
Expanding the garden’s utility
The site’s rebirth includes practical additions intended to make the space more versatile for residents and visitors. New facilities now available at the garden include the Bar du Jardin, a renovated snack bar located at the entrance offering a casual space for visitors to relax. Additionally, the venue now features a new 30-seat birthday hall equipped with media technology, alongside the continued availability of the Kroenlein Room for private functions and corporate gatherings. Dedicated open-air picnic and leisure areas also encourage visitors to spend more time on-site, taking advantage of the views and the coastal climate.
Following its spring reopening after a six-year closure, the Jardin Exotique has broadened its programming beyond traditional daytime botanical visits. With the addition of summer concert series and evening openings timed to the international fireworks festival, the municipal site now functions as both a scientific preservation space and a multi-purpose public venue for the Principality.
