For the first time, the What Gravity Tour made its debut in Monaco via the Monaco Athletics Festival, organised by the Monegasque Athletics Federation at Port Hercule, bringing international high jump competition to the Principality. The event, created by Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim, aims to promote high-level performance and the development of the discipline.

Originally launched as the What Gravity Challenge in 2024 in Doha, the event evolved into the What Gravity Tour in 2025, with the addition of its first European stop in Germany. Monaco marked the latest destination for the growing international tour. In the presence of Prince Albert II, competitors took to the specially constructed high jump area at the port in front of an eager crowd.

American jumper JuVaughn Harrison produced the standout performance of the evening, delivering a world-leading jump to secure his victory with a clearance of 2.34m. Runner-up and fellow American Tyus Wilson also had a stellar performance, setting a new personal best of 2.30m. Italy’s Christian Falocchi rounded out the podium with a clearance of 2.27m.

With a world-leading mark delivered on its first appearance in the Principality, the Monaco Athletics Festival made an immediate impact, adding another international event to Monaco’s summer calendar.
