The Union Internationale Motonautique, the international governing body of powerboating, honoured the Kuwaiti multi-time world jet ski champion, Yousef Alabdulrazzaq, as the global top winner for 2017 at a ceremony held in Monaco on Saturday, March 17.
Alabdulrazzaq told Kuwait News Agency on Sunday said he was honoured to represent the Kuwaiti Flag at such a high-level international sports event. He dedicated the accomplishment to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who have accorded him fatherly care and support.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador to France and Monaco, Sami Suleiman, took part in the ceremony on behalf of Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan. The Kuwaiti Government, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, provides support for Kuwaiti athletes.
Alabdulrazzaq has won the world jet ski championship at least seven times. The ceremony in Monaco brought together sports VIPs and Olympic federations.
Monaco-based Formula E team Rokit Venturi Racing has been bought by an investor group, with founder Gildo Pastor retaining an interest and headquarters remaining in the Principality.
As the world mourns the death of football great Diego Maradona, we turn back time to 2003, when the Argentinian legend left his mark – quite literally – on the Principality.
Monegasque Formula One driver Charles Leclerc says he is suffering only mild symptoms after contracting Covid-19 and is in self-quarantine at his home in the Principality.
Talks will be held next week to decide the fate of this year’s Six Nations rugby tournament as France raises concerns about the potential spread of the new UK variant of the Covid virus.
