La Rascasse, one of Monaco’s most legendary nightlife venues, is set to unveil a dramatically reimagined interior when it reopens in April following an extensive renovation. The establishment, which has been closed for works, will emerge with a Formula 1-inspired theme celebrating the Monaco Grand Prix.
SBM CEO Stéphane Valeri announced the transformation during his New Year address to the press on Wednesday 7th January, presenting initial draft designs for the venue. The 70-year-old establishment’s previous decor had become dated, prompting the complete redesign.
Racing atmosphere planned
Early designs shown to the press reveal a “racing” atmosphere dominated by red, with a black and white checkered floor reminiscent of the chequered flag. The venue’s location at the famous Rascasse corner of the Formula 1 circuit directly inspired the concept.
However, SBM stressed that the project is not yet finalised, with design elements still being refined ahead of the April reopening.
Valeri indicated that photographs of Charles Leclerc’s historic victory at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix would “most likely” be integrated into the decoration, honouring Monaco’s national driver. He also suggested Ferrari and Formula 1 parts could feature in the space, though final details remain to be confirmed.
Seventh decade for iconic venue
La Rascasse celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2025, cementing its status as one of Monaco’s most enduring entertainment venues. Located on the port at one of Formula 1’s most photographed corners, the bar has long been synonymous with Grand Prix weekend celebrations and Monaco nightlife.
The renovation represents a strategic repositioning for the venue, aligning its identity more explicitly with the Monaco Grand Prix that has made its corner famous worldwide.
The establishment will remain closed until the completion of works, scheduled for April 2026. Valeri confirmed that the next press gathering will take place at La Rascasse in April, themed around Formula 1.
