Monaco’s Les Amis du Liban charity has launched an urgent call for supplies and funds to assist the people of war-torn southern Lebanon ahead of the onset of winter. Here’s how you can help.
Since Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon began on 23rd September, the United Nations estimates that more than 800,000 people have been displaced within the country, with an additional 425,000 fleeing to neighbouring Syria.
This massive displacement has led to significant challenges as people scramble to protect themselves and their families from the approaching winter cold. In response, the local Monegasque organisation Les Amis du Liban has issued an urgent appeal for essential supplies, including blankets, mattresses, warm clothing for children and adults, heaters, food parcels, and hygiene and medical supplies.
These resources aim to support ongoing relief efforts and provide much-needed comfort and safety to vulnerable populations in the months ahead.
“To bring some warmth and comfort to families, our association has distributed gas bottles, heaters and warm clothes to help them cope with the harsh winter,” said Amis du Liban in a social media post. “We also believe that every child deserves to continue learning, despite the difficulties. This is why we provide books and school supplies to young people, so that they can continue their educational journey and remain hopeful for the future.”
