Liberation to be marked on September 3

Monaco’s Town Hall has announced that the 74th anniversary of the Liberation of the Principality will be marked by a Remembrance Ceremony on Monday, September 3, at 17:00, at the cemetery of Monaco.

The annual laying of wreaths will be held at the war memorial as well as at the graves of the two Monegasque heroes of the Resistance, René Borghini and Joseph Lajoux, who were executed by the occupying German forces in August, 1944.

Leaders of Monaco’s religious denominations will be present. In addition to the prayer for the dead and a minute of silence, there will be a prayer for peace and the national anthem will be played by the Municipal Band, under the direction of Ludovic Tallarico.
