Mr. Gilles Tonelli, Government Counselor for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was received on July 6 in Tunis by Mr. Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, for the third session of the Bilateral Commission between the two states.
Tunisia and the Principality maintain long and special relations, formalised in 2008 by the conclusion of a Framework Cooperation Agreement. On that occasion, the two parties welcomed ongoing support and cooperation to contribute to economic and social development in Tunisia through projects in health, the social sector, entrepreneurship and local economic development.
Meeting last week, the two ministers had an exchange of views on the development of the situation at national and regional level, as well as on possible new avenues of partnership, in particular in the social and youth fields.
To this end, the Monegasque side undertook to examine projects submitted by the Tunisians, aimed at encouraging the integration of women in rural areas, protecting children with disabilities and supporting youth and sports.
At the end of the session, the two ministers signed a new Framework Cooperation Agreement in line with the International Agenda 2030 for a sustainable development, as well as a sectoral agreement in care and the integration of vulnerable people.
An Economic Forum, co-organised by the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the Monaco Economic Board was held on Friday, July 7, at the headquarters of UTICA.
Mr. Tonelli also visited flagship projects supported by the Principality in Tunisia.
