The Animal Fund (TAF), a Monaco-registered non-profit association, is organising what promises to be a fun day as well as a very useful exercise removing rubbish from the sea.

On Thursday, June 8 – World Oceans Day – volunteers are invited to meet at the Cap d’Ail sailing club at 9:30 am from where they will leave on paddleboard or kayak to pick up trash out of the sea. Sign up at to book your equipment.

“If you have your own, just join us,” Beverly Holt, who’s a TAF supporter, told Monaco Life.

The oceans cover 71 percent of the earth’s surface and contain 97 percent of the earth’s water and deliver more than 50 percent of our oxygen, and so it is up to all of us to contribute to their cleanliness. World Oceans Day will be celebrated by hundreds of similar events across the globe.

The plan is to return to the club at noon and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
