The new coach of AS Monaco Basket, Sasa Filipovski, made his debut on Tuesday, July 31, meeting the local press. Forty-three-year-old Sasa Filipovski arrived from Turkey, where he trained Banvit Bandirma.
Two years ago, the Slovenian coach reached the Champions League final (after defeating Monaco in the semifinals). Last year, however, he lost in the quarterfinals against the same Monegasques. His team won the Turkish Cup in 2017.
Last season, with a very young team, Filipovski reached the semifinals of the play-offs, only being beaten by the future champions, Fenerbahce.
Before his Turkish adventure, the Slovenian coach was two-time champion of Poland with Zielona Gora (2015, 2016) and two-time champion of Slovenia (2004, 2005), during his debut as head coach, with Olimpija Ljubljana. The coach has signed for two years and speaks French and English.
In the pre-season, the Roca Boys will travel to Bormio (Italy) from August 5 for a preparation course. They will then participate in the tournament of Olbia in Italy (from September 8 to 9), then to that of Antalya (Turkey) from September 12 to 16.
