Fourteen years after its last edition, triathlon makes its grand return to the Principality on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th November. As athletes prepare to swim, bike, and run across Monaco, local authorities are rolling out extensive traffic and parking restrictions to secure the course.
The main road changes start on Saturday 7th November at 5pm. The downhill lane on Avenue Princesse Grace will close from Place Anne-Marie Campora to Place Joséphine Baker. Parking will also be banned along the race route from Saturday night, including on Boulevard Louis II and Avenue de Monte-Carlo.
Sunday: Major city closures
The biggest closures happen on Sunday 8th November between 9am and 5pm. Several main streets will close to vehicles completely, including Boulevard Louis II, Avenue des Spélugues, Avenue J.F. Kennedy, and the Portier slip road. Drivers coming from Boulevard Louis II must turn onto Route de la Piscine.
To keep traffic moving, Avenue d’Ostende will run a special two-way system on Sunday, with downhill traffic using the bus lane while uphill traffic uses the middle lane.
Pedestrian access and reopening
Between 9:30am and 6:30pm on Sunday, race participants will use the designated event lanes. Spectators are advised to use designated pedestrian crossings and follow marshals’ instructions throughout the day.
All roads and parking spaces will reopen by 6:30pm on Sunday evening. Full event details and schedules are available at monaco-international-triathlon.com.
