Monaco is seeking an operator for a new inclusive snack bar at Place d’Armes, with the business required to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities as part of a mainstream workplace team.

The Mairie de Monaco launched the public call for applications in the latest edition of the Journal de Monaco. The approximately 29m² kiosk is located along Avenue du Port, at one of the Principality’s busiest neighbourhood squares.

Employment at the centre of the project

The premises must be used as an inclusive snack bar with a social purpose. According to the official notice, the business should “promote the employment of people with disabilities within a team working in an ordinary workplace environment”.

The selected operator will therefore be expected to run a viable commercial activity while making workplace inclusion a central part of the project.

Snack bar planned for Place d’Armes

The Mairie says the proposed business must fit the family-oriented character of Place d’Armes, which brings together residents, workers, traders and visitors throughout the day.

The snack bar must not create noise or other disturbances for neighbouring businesses and residents.

Three-year agreement offered

The kiosk forms part of the State’s public domain and will be made available through a temporary occupancy agreement with the Mairie.

The initial agreement will run for three years and may be renewed at the sole discretion of the local authority. As is standard for public-domain premises, the arrangement will be personal to the selected operator, temporary and revocable.
