The tenth Monaco Optimist team race runs between 10 January and 13 January, with 16 teams competing from 16 nations.

All 64 sailors are under 14 in the event, which is organised by Yacht Club de Monaco.

The match race format pits teams of four against each other. Clubs from all over the world are eager to take part in the event.

This year, alongside youngsters from the Royal Cape Yacht Club (South Africa) and Yacht Club Punta del Este (Uruguay), YCM is hosting a Chinese team from the Visun Royal Yacht Club.

Last year’s winner, the Finnish team from Helsingfors Segelklubb HSK, is back, facing current European champions the Swedes from the Royal Swedish Yacht Club.
