Monaco United Women maintain perfect start with dominant display

Monaco United Women’s Football Club officially secured their second win of the season on Sunday, delivering a commanding performance against AS Moulins in the championship’s second match day.

From the outset, the Monegasque side took control of the game, launching a series of incisive attacks that led to several early goals — a clear display of the tactical approach instilled by coach Marco Simone.

Marina Makanza, the French international with 15 senior caps, delivered a standout performance with six goals. She credited the achievement to a team-first mentality that drove the group’s success.

“It’s always an incredible feeling to score and help the team, no matter the division,” Makanza said. “The most important thing is to be dedicated to the collective interest and move forward together, which we managed to do.”

Coach Simone praises their professional approach

Despite the lopsided scoreline, Simone praised his squad’s professionalism and focus. “I am very satisfied with the performance because, despite a scoreline that might suggest an easy match, the girls showed exemplary seriousness from start to finish,” said the Italian coach. “They maintained high intensity, especially mentally, respected the opponent, and applied perfectly the work from the week.”

The victory consolidates Monaco United’s position at the top of the table with a highly favourable goal difference. Their opening fixture was won by forfeit, making this their first competitive match on the pitch this season.

Simone also outlined his philosophy for the campaign: “Our main objective remains to implement our game philosophy, based on clear principles: availability to serve the play and teammates, intensity, and focus throughout the 90 minutes.”

The club has stated its ambition to win the league and secure promotion this year. Sunday’s performance demonstrated not only their capability to achieve that goal, but also the growing cohesion within the squad.

Monaco United now face two weeks of intensive training, during which two friendly matches are scheduled ahead of their next league fixture against Villeneuve-Loubet in three weeks’ time.

“These matches will help us maintain our rhythm and give playing time to the entire squad ahead of the next official fixture,” Simone said.
