Monaco’s Princely Family opens ‘Teddy Bear Land’ Christmas Village

Monaco’s Christmas Village officially opened on Friday 5th December with Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella joining Mayor Georges Marsan and members of the Communal Council for the inauguration ceremony.

This year’s theme, Au Pays des Nounours (Teddy Bear Land), transforms Port Hercule into a tender and magical setting filled with food stalls, retail chalets, carousels, a Ferris wheel, parades, concerts and family entertainment. The festivities will continue through to 4th January 2026, welcoming visitors of all ages to experience the seasonal celebrations.

Eco-responsible approach drives 2025 edition

The 2025 Christmas Village has been designed with sustainability at its core. Decorations are crafted from recycled polystyrene, whilst LED lighting operates on timed schedules to minimise energy consumption. The event has eliminated single-use plastics in favour of reusable eco-cups, and Christmas trees will be collected after the season for composting.

One of the highlights of this year’s eco-conscious approach is the return of a real ice skating rink, which has been optimised through the use of new intelligent equipment designed to limit energy impact.

The combination of traditional festive elements with modern sustainable technology demonstrates Monaco’s determination to balance celebration with environmental stewardship.

Visitors can expect a full schedule of activities throughout the month-long celebration. The village features traditional Christmas market offerings including gourmet food stalls and artisan gift shops, alongside classic fairground attractions such as carousels and a large Ferris wheel offering views across the harbour.

The entertainment programme includes regular parades, live concerts and family-focused activities designed to create memorable experiences for children and adults alike. The complete schedule of festivities is available on the municipal website at mairie.mc.
