Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival returns with young talents and global stars

The Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival kicks off Wednesday with a performance by young talents from the Académie Rainier III, marking the start of two weeks of global jazz acts and cinematic features.

The 18th edition of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival begins on 20th November with a performance by young musicians from the Académie Rainier III. The festival, which runs until 1st December, will take place primarily at the Opera Garnier and promises a broad programme featuring internationally renowned artists and cinematic moments.

The opening night will showcase approximately 30 students from the Jazz and Modern Music departments of the Académie Rainier III, performing at the iconic Opera Garnier. Artistic Director Alfonso Ciulla and programmer Reno di Matteo announced the diverse line-up at a press event earlier this year, with acts spanning multiple genres and styles.

The festival will continue on 21st November with performances by The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, directed by Scotty Barnhart, alongside the Dal Sasso Big Band. Over the coming weeks, notable appearances will include jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, saxophonist Stefano di Battista, and British band Level 42.

The event will also feature two film screenings. On 24th November, the festival will present Ascenseur pour l’échafaud (Elevator to the Gallows), featuring Miles Davis’ soundtrack, in collaboration with the Monaco Audiovisual Institute. The festival closes on 1st December with a showing of Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash.

Tickets for concerts range from €25 to €90, while cinema screenings are available for €12. For a full schedule and booking information, click here.
