O M G. What a weekend! I think I’m going to need a whole week to decompress from it. Where do I begin!? Uncle Karl (Lagerfeld) was in town for the Bal de Rose! Speaking of the Bal de la Rose the haute couture fantasy was in full effect!
Don’t ask me for my best dressed, it would be impossible to decide. Princess Caroline in CHANEL! Charlotte Casiraghi in SAINT LAURENT! Speaking of Charlotte Casiraghi … she is rumoured to have announced her ENGAGEMENT to Dimitri Rassam Saturday night (FINALLY). I so ship this couple.
It would seem fitting on the weekend of one of Monaco’s most fashionable events that the town would be brimming with street style. It wasn’t just brimming … it overflowed. Here are my favourite pre- and post-Bal de Rose style moments from this weekend.

Karolina Zubkova-Mattes
@karolinasfairytale In Europe since the time of the great Roman Emperors, the colour purple has come to represent royalty, wealth, and extravagance. It seems only fitting that the wife of “The Bill Gates of The Alps” would wear it. Casually on a balcony at the Hermitage, Karolina does not go unnoticed in a purple Versace suit while casually sipping tea, although she has been known to spill some piping hot as well (we’ll never forget the Instagram cat fight with a certain German designer’s ex …).
As usual, style never sleeps with the conspicuous Zubkova-Mattes and possibly neither does she as she was spotted the next day after a late night at the Bal de Rose climbing into her bright pink Audi R8 …in bright yellow high heels, of course. In the library that is Monaco fashion, my favourite book by far is the fairy tale of Karolina.
Sylwia
@sylwia_k__ Giving a whole new dimension to the term “Foxy Mama” this mother of two donned a fur gilet paired with a beige ensemble from La Promesse. A fashionista mum out in the wild environment of Monaco is useless without protection from judging eyes and Slywia is well-equipped with her Louis Vuitton Monogram Concorde bag and Louis Vuitton Star Trail lace up boots guaranteed to make even the most aggressive of style predators end up as prey. Like most beautiful and wild animals, look but don’t touch.
Bryan
@murdabryan_ Bryan oh Bryan, we had so many good things to say about your amazing personal style and the way you pair streetwear and luxury brands (these days they are one and the same), from your Moncler puffer to your Balenciaga Triple S Sneakers but you blocked us on Instagram. Don’t worry, perhaps you dodged a future bullet. The end.
Kerry Tetro
@kerry_tetro I wish everyone could take mirror selfies as well as Kerry. Instead my feed is still full of dirty toothpaste stained mirrors, blurry pictures and bad angles. I’m kinda obsessed at how casual this outfit appears but at closer inspection, of course, it all luxed out. Everything about this look is on point, from the super on the trend retro cat-eye sunglasses to the casually undone just so trench coat over a Gucci t-shirt. Add to that a Hermès Evelyne bag thrown over the shoulder and voila, you’ve got a look that says, “I want to blend in but if you happen to notice me it’s not my fault if you get jealous.” I noticed. I’m jealous.
Helena
@helenatoe HELENA HAS FUN her Instagram proclaims and I’ll second that proclamation after a quick scroll through her feed. This blonde bombshell touched down in Côte d’Azur and hit the ground running in the style marathon that is life here. Helena enjoyed the sunshine in Monaco in a navy blue silk floral blazer paired with white just-so-frayed jeans that grazed her oxblood ankle boots. See guys, sometimes style can be as simple as a blazer jeans and boots! I mean if you’ve got Helena’s genetics that’s not a bad thing as well.
