New fixed taxi fares are being introduced in Monaco, setting the price of a journey within the Principality at €18 and a motorway trip to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport at €110 under normal traffic conditions.
The revised tariff schedule was established by a ministerial order dated 17th September and published in the Journal de Monaco on Friday 18th September. It applies day and night, provided there is no waiting time and traffic is moving normally.
Under the new schedule, a taxi between Monaco and central Beausoleil, central Cap d’Ail or Roquebrune-Cap-Martin – excluding Cap-Martin and the village – costs €25. The fare rises to €30 for upper Beausoleil and the western part of Cap d’Ail.
Further examples include €65 to Beaulieu-sur-Mer or central Menton, €80 to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, €105 to Ventimiglia, €110 to western Nice and €200 to Cannes. A trip to eastern Nice costs €100, while Sanremo is fixed at €175 and Antibes at €190.
Journeys to Nice Airport, Ventimiglia, Sanremo, Antibes and Cannes can be reserved without an additional booking charge, with motorway tolls included.
For destinations not covered by the schedule, the driver must propose a firm and final price before the journey begins. Tolls may be charged separately in these cases.
Waiting time and additional charges
Waiting time and travel in slow-moving traffic are charged at €90 an hour following a three-minute grace period. The speed at which this charge begins varies according to the destination zone.
Taxis carrying between five and eight passengers in a van can apply a supplement equivalent to 50% of the fixed fare.
There is no additional charge for standard luggage, larger items such as trunks or prams, or animals. However, passengers can be charged €200 if the vehicle’s interior requires cleaning because of drunkenness or antisocial behaviour.
Taxi fare displays must now also include a visible QR code providing access to the applicable pricing information.
Higher fares during the Monaco Grand Prix
A separate tariff schedule will apply during the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix period, from 8am on the Thursday until 11.59pm on the following Monday.
During this period, the fixed fare within Monaco rises from €18 to €30.
A journey to Beaulieu-sur-Mer or central Menton will cost €90, while the Grand Prix fare is fixed at €120 to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, €150 to Ventimiglia, €160 to western Nice or Nice Airport and €300 to Cannes.
The 50% supplement for taxi vans carrying five to eight people also applies during the Grand Prix period, while luggage and animals remain free of charge.
