Despite the atrocity in Nice in the middle of last year, with the loss of 86 lives on July 14, and a subsequent knock-on effect on tourism on the Riviera, the number of passengers using Nice Airport continued to grow in 2016.
The latest statistics show an increase in passenger numbers of 3.4 percent over 2015, with only a slight dip in August. The total number using the airport in 2015 was 12,018,000, with 4,358 being domestic travellers. The overall figures for 2015 were up 3.1 percent on 2014.
Azzura, a Franco-Italian consortium, bought a majority stake in the airport for €1.2 billion in July, 2016.
