Parisian glamour meets Monaco elegance at the 2024 Bal de Noël

The 19th edition of the annual Bal de Noël took place on Saturday in the enchanting Salle Empire of the Hôtel de Paris. Hosted under the patronage of Princess Charlene, the event blended the timeless charm of the French capital with Monaco’s signature sophistication, all in support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.

For nearly two decades, the Bal de Noël has marked the beginning of Monaco’s holiday season in unparalleled style, and Saturday 7th December continued this elegant tradition with a dazzling celebration.

Themed ‘Paris-Monte Carlo’, this year’s event transported guests to the heart of Parisian glamour with energetic cabaret acts, captivating Can-Can dancers and stunning renditions of beloved French classics, including Edith Piaf’s timeless melodies.

Adding to the festive charm, guests were welcomed with a photo opportunity alongside Santa Claus before taking their seats at tables named after iconic Paris landmarks, such as Champs-Élysées, Montmartre and Le Marais.

A gala of generosity and elegance

Meticulously organised by Sandrine Knoell of 5 Stars Events, the Christmas gala centres around its elaborate auction, a key feature that has, for the past nine years, directly supported the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation’s vital work in drowning prevention and educating children through the values of sport.

This year’s event, led by Sotheby’s, offered an array of coveted items, including luxury holidays, exclusive dinners, a signed football jersey, exquisite jewellery and a unique Monaco Grand Prix chequered flag autographed by the drivers of the 2024 race, including winner and Monegasque hero Charles Leclerc. The prized flag was presented by Foundation ambassador and free diver Pierre Frolla, adding a memorable touch to the evening.

Sandrine Knoell encouraged guests with heartfelt words: “I would like you all to think about Christmas when you were a child, and feel that same generosity this evening for the Princess Charlene Foundation.”

Her message resonated, as the evening concluded with an impressive €269,000 raised for the Princess Charlene Foundation through the auction, a significant contribution warmly acknowledged by General Secretary Gareth Wittstock in a heartfelt social media post the following day.

“The Princess Charlene Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to all those who graced the gala last night with their presence in support of our cause,” he wrote. “A special mention of appreciation goes to Sandrine for her exceptional organisation of this significant event. Merci infiniment.

Entertainment also included fashion shows by Guvet, a Chinese fashion brand known for its luxurious goose-down jackets, and Parisian fashion designer Edward Achour, who commented, “We are very pleased to be part of this event and embraced by this incredible community.”

A night to remember

Elegant Christmas-themed table settings with flowers by Narmino complemented the festive spirit, while a sumptuous meal led by Michelin starred Chef Dominique Lory and gifts from SHA Wellness and Detox Retreats and Xerjoff added a touch of indulgence. Peter Mackley served as the charismatic Master of Ceremonies, ensuring the evening flowed seamlessly.

The night ended with dancing as a DJ kept the energy high, and the crowd couldn’t resist joining in when Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ started playing.
