Merchants at La Condamine Market have met with officials to discuss the upcoming redevelopment, set for completion by 2027. Key plans and timelines were shared, ensuring business continuity during the works.
On Tuesday 8th October, merchants from La Condamine Market Hall gathered at Monaco’s town hall for a key meeting with local officials to discuss the upcoming market redevelopment. The event, led by Mayor Georges Marsan, included several high-ranking officials and served to provide a detailed update on the much-anticipated project, which is scheduled to be completed by early 2027.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Marsan described the market’s restructuring as a pivotal initiative for the administration. “This restructuring is a flagship project of this mandate and a priority for the Monegasque population,” he said. “The necessary modernisation of the site offers an opportunity to rethink the layout of the market hall.”
The mayor also highlighted the importance of collaboration, stating, “The success of this project must be a collective effort to ensure that La Condamine Market remains the popular heart of Monaco. There is more dialogue today than in 1992 or 2012. We are engaging in consultation.”
Key points discussed during the meeting included a detailed technical update from the Communal Technical Services about the essential upgrades needed to bring the market into compliance with current standards. Consultant Fabien Darbon introduced the proposed concept for the market’s modernisation, drawing attention to both architectural enhancements and improved functionality aimed at elevating the visitor experience. A clear construction timeline was presented, outlining that the redevelopment work would take place throughout 2026, with a target opening date of February 2027. Plans for the temporary relocation of the merchants’ stalls during construction were also shared to ensure business continuity.
Merchants were given the opportunity to ask questions and received a questionnaire to submit their suggestions, with a similar form set to be made available for customers within the market, enabling the public to share their opinions on the redevelopment. Each merchant will also be invited to attend individual meetings to address their specific situations in relation to the project.
