The Monegasque Tennis Federation has announced that the Tennis Europe Junior Masters competition will be held at the Monte-Carlo Country Club hosting the rising and future stars of the tennis world.
Household names in the tennis world such as Rafael Nadal, Kim Clijsters, Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic all have one thing in common beside being greats: they all were former champions of the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.
Now, the tour is coming to Monaco where, under the patronage of Prince Albert II, the eight best boys and girls in the under-14 and under-16 categories on the current Junior Tour will play each other at the idyllic Monte-Carlo Country Club.
The tournament is being held from 13th to 15th October where the juniors will take to the same court that hosts the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and the ATP Masters 1000.
“It is with great pleasure that I look forward to welcoming the Tennis Europe Junior Masters Monte-Carlo on our courts,” said President of the Monegasque Tennis Federation and of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, Melanie-Antoinette de Massy. “I am also delighted to be able to welcome these young champions in the Principality who will certainly constitute the future elite of world tennis.”
The ranking system, termed “The Race to Monte-Carlo” is sent out weekly via social media, keeping players and fans up to date on who is headed toward the finals as well as how to qualify.
There are already four players destined for Monaco, those being the winners of the European Under-14 Championships. The girls who will be attending are Alina Korneeva and Tereza Valentova, and for the boys, it will be Jan Kumstat and Nikola Djosic.
They will be joined by the top six in their age category in October.
