Roca Team blow Paris Basketball away in Game 3 of Betclic Elite finals

AS Monaco Basket’s massive 88-59 victory over Paris Basketball on Sunday night puts the Roca Team one game up in the Betclic Elite finals series. The Monaco side could now be just 40 minutes away from becoming the 2024 Champions of France.

The Roca Team were back in action on Sunday 9th June at Paris’ new and wildly impressive Adidas Arena for the third game of the Betclic Elite finals, and, after a crushing defeat on home turf only a few days earlier, the players proved themselves ready to turn the tables on their worthy opponents.

In front of a crowd of 8,000 fans, AS Monaco’s determination to take the advantage was evident from the start.

In this pivotal match, the Roca Team came out swinging, scoring double the points of their opponents in the first quarter. From there, they never took their feet off the pedal, outscoring Paris in every quarter of the game to follow. Ultimately, AS Monaco Basket came away with an incredible 88-59 win.

Coach Sasa Obradovic was all praise after the match, saying, “The guys got into EuroLeague mode… We played fantastic. It was a collective effort and it’s really nice to see.”

Top scorer Élie Okobo added, “We had a lot of defensive intensity, which meant that we scored easy baskets in attack. It gave everyone confidence and that’s really a very good thing… We all realised the failure of Game 2. We arrived in Paris determined. Everyone was concerned about their role. We played harder, longer and with regularity. We showed our true colours.”

Other than Okobo, who scored 20 points on the night, Mike James also gave an impressive showing, adding 14 points to the total, followed by Jordan Loyd and Alpha Diallo, who tied for next highest with 12 points apiece.

The next game will be played in Paris on Wednesday 12th June. Go Roca Team!
