For the eighth consecutive year, Monaco is joining the Tobacco Free Month campaign, a collective local prevention challenge that encourages and supports smokers in their process of quitting.
All smokers are invited to stop the habit from the start of November for one month. The idea being that, beyond 28 days, the withdrawal symptoms are considerably reduced, thereby increasing the chances of success five-fold.
Preparation is the key to success
To achieve the greatest chance of success, experts suggest that smokers prepare by contacting a tobacco specialist, or a health professional, who will define the best quitting strategy according to individual habits and lifestyle.
In Monaco, a tobacco consultation is available free of charge at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre and accessible by calling +377 97 98 97 41.
According to Monaco’s Minister of Social Affairs and Health Christophe Robino, advice from a health professional increases the chances of successfully quitting smoking by 70%.
The Prince’s Government encourages smokers to participate in the challenge by visiting the Tabac/Info Service website at https://www.tabac-info-service.fr/, by calling 3989 (free from Monaco and in France), or by downloading the E-coaching application to stop smoking: https://www.tabac-info-service.fr/je-me-fais-entreprises/je-telecharge-l-appli.
