The Monaco Open Air Cinema’s August programme is headed by the arrival of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has only just reached the rooftop screen beneath the Rock, while the season’s nightly screenings move to an earlier start as the summer evenings begin to draw in.

Now in the heart of its 2026 season, the open-air cinema atop the Parking des Pêcheurs continues to show major international releases in their original language with French subtitles, on what organisers describe as Europe’s largest open-air screen, spanning 220 square metres under the stars.

New this month at Monaco’s Open Air Cinema

August’s marquee film is ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, the latest Marvel adventure starring Tom Holland, which reached the open-air screen only at the very end of July and now anchors the August schedule with repeat screenings throughout the month. Three further titles arrive new during the month: the comedy sequel ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, from 5th August, the romantic comedy ‘One Night Only’, from 12th August, and the action film ‘Mutiny’, from 19th August.

They join a summer line-up that keeps rotating through the season’s other favourites, among them Christopher Nolan’s epic ‘The Odyssey’, the Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael’, Disney’s ‘Moana’, the animated ‘Minions & Monsters’ and the science-fiction adventure ‘The End of Oak Street’.

An earlier start as the nights draw in

The most practical change for August is the timing. As sunset creeps earlier, the cinema now opens its doors at 9pm, with films beginning at 9.30pm — half an hour earlier than the July schedule, when screenings started at 10pm. Anyone planning ahead should note that the start moves earlier again in September, with doors from 8.30pm and films from 9pm.

Free screenings and a fireworks-night special

A few of the August dates are worth marking. On 1st August, the screening of ‘Moana’ will begin only once the evening’s fireworks display has finished, tying the film to one of the Principality’s summer set pieces. Then on 28th August, the cinema hosts a free screening of ‘The Wedding in Monaco’, the short documentary chronicling the 1956 marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly, shown in English.

A Monaco summer institution

Beyond the films, the appeal remains the setting. Perched at the foot of the Prince’s Palace with panoramic views over the Mediterranean, the venue offers 500 cushioned seats and a dedicated lounge area, while the CinéBar serves champagne, wine, cocktails and refreshments alongside snacks. Dogs on leads are welcome.

The 2026 season runs through to 6th September, when it closes — fittingly — with a surprise film.
